It might be a bush somewhere else on the car unless you've identified it to be in the centre of the car.
How many miles has the car got?

Failed propshaft bearing. Common with these.

Yay my video!

It only takes about 10 sec to get under the car and confirm it's this bush (about 1/2 way along the prop-shaft). "Officially" the only fix is a replacement prop-shaft at £1K+ (think was near £1200 but can't recall) which if you have a Warranty is fine but any prop-shaft company can fix it once it's off the car for much less. It needs rebalancing it once it's back together which is why I recommend a company do it or if you're a nutter you can buy the rubber-bush separately (One on eBay here etc) strip the propshaft apart and rebalance it yourself during the rebuild.

***OR*** - You could talk to these lovely people who, if they are still making car propshafts, will charge you a pretty penny but you "should" be left with something extremely unique (not that I've looked at all and found they're on MRC's doorstep and owned by an aerospace company I deal with almost daily etc.............honest!)

Same with the Ur-quattro. "New propshaft", whereas there's a BMW bearing which is identical for around £50.

Found my car to have the same issue. Slight vibration under hard acceleration, from near the centre of the car. Mine looks slightly worn, but nowhere near as bad as above video. I will be looking to fix the issue in the next month or two.

In the video the seal had completely disintegrated a full 360' around the bearing so there was a 1cm air gap between the bearing and the outer metal with no rubber between the two :D

oh yes you can do it without taking it off from the gearbox end just split shaft after damaged carrier bearing and it sorted the knock out on mine
