Hi all,
I'm very close to buying a RS6 - so making sure I'm doing it with eyes open.
On Tuesday I'm having a RS6 C6 inspected - I'd like to have the coolant pipes in the offsite wing inspected in particular. I understand the inner wing liner needs to be removed to inspect them.
How much labour time to remove, inspect and replace? Anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks
Labour time for coolant pipe inspection?
Re: Labour time for coolant pipe inspection?
id say min charge of an hour, its wheel off and a few clips and screws .the main part that rusts is in plain view without removing the inner arch.
Re: Labour time for coolant pipe inspection?
I'm not sure you actually need to remove all the lining. You should be able to see with just the wheel off. Might be wrong but I'm thinking of selling mine and buyers keep asking about coolant pipes and 50pence oil seal.
These things don't go on all RS6's I've owned mine for three years without any major problems. Too many people say about. Engine out but most of these problems don't need the engine out if you go to someone who knows these cars. Mine is looked after by QST with 20 yrs experience top guys and fortunately for me 5mins down the road

Thanks guys. I've arranged for an hour of labour on top of the standard inspection so sounds like that'll work.
Appreciate that not all cars have rotting pipes & this is a low mileage car too - but just making sure I'm going into the purchase with eyes wide open!

You can see then through the arch without taking the wheel off but for all the time it will take, you might as well get a good look at them with it stripped.
I'm having mine done as we speak, just make sure you get a good inspection as I found more than the usual leaks when my engine was out. I'm changing oil seal, coolant pipes, braided hose from oil tank, 2 coolant hoses to the gearbox cooler, vacuum hose at the back of the engine, 2x rocker cover gaskets to name a few.
