I think the reason is...cause it's a daily driving car which is getting in contact with salt, water etc.

@Quattro_RS6 - so what has the refurbirsh company done with your calipers, and how much have you payed for?

They only dismantled the pistons, cleaned and mounted new seals. The pistons was only cleaned and put back together.

That's what they atleast told me.. have no idea if they actually changed the seals or not..

I had mine replaced with stainless steel ones.
They are cnc made and fit perfectly.

Works perfect even on track for one year now.

Common problem with the design of the caliper, the pistons will seize up with age.
Ive got a new set of genuine pistons from Alcon if anyone wants them - not available from Audi.
Very easy to rebuild.

anybody know of a reputable company who can refurb the ceramic calipers?
