Likewise - just thought it a shame he didn't heed some sound advice... that's the thing about this forum - opinions are many and varied, but when it comes to technical advice, people almost always only post solid facts. Like you I got a bit miffed that Tim seemed to ask for advice then went and did it his way anyway....
Spoke to him last night as it happens and seems charging the battery directly from inside the boot hasnt made any noticable harm. So I guess he was lucky.
