My car is doing my nut in!

Post by AudiPartner » Fri Oct 23, 2015 9:26 am

Since the car came back from Audi (coincidence) the tailgate hasn't opened fully, and as such I keep banging my head!!

Has anyone had this? Is it just worn/tired struts? It's not all the time but more often than not.

Mnk : cold... Why would that cause an issue?

actually ignore that... i'm guessing we're talking about an estate here not saloon. not sure how the estate boot works.

on the saloon the boot is opened by gas struts, so the pressure in them will vary with temperature. in the winter my boot hardly opens when i unlock it... in the summer it opens fully without me touching it.

Have you tried the height reset as per the manual? I think it was basically lift/push to the correct height and depress the button on the tailgate for 5 seconds or so and that stores the new height...

It didn't no.

The procedure was to open the boot to the desired position and then hold the close button down for 4 seconds and it stores the position in the memory.

But I guess this only applies if you want to set it at less than it's maximum. My issue is that it seems to only open say 90%.

I have this issue also, it won’t open the full 100% only goes 90% as you say, tried the height reset but that doesn’t work.

It’s had new boot struts so it’s not them either, unsure how to make this work? Live with it?
