Re: Tyre choice?
I have Huddersfield Audi putting 4 MPSS on hopefully as we speak. They tried telling me they are just over £1000 for the 4 but they agreed to price match £190 each.

Re: Tyre choice?
I had Michelin's until I had to swap to Dunlop's in June as I couldn't find Michelin's anywhere (which I was seriously pi$$ed off about). The Dunlop's aren't bad in comparison, I find them stiffer and less compliant, and I think the Michelin's had about 15% more grip all round but day to day not really noticeable. I'd go for Michelin every time if I could find them but had to settle for second best IMHO.
Re: Tyre choice?
I have tried Dunlops, Contis and Pzero. TBH The only difference I noticed was road noise. Unless you track these cars it's hard to notice a massive difference amongst the premium brands

Re: Tyre choice?
Despite the big thumbs up for the Michelin, I think I will go with the "R01"" check to stick with what was intended so that leaves the Dunlops vs the Pirellis...the Dunlops give zero rim protection, not clear if Pirellis any help in this respect. Thanks all for helpful input
Re: Tyre choice?
I have to say last night I had the oppourtunity to push the Dunlops harder than I have done before and they were very good indeed, every bit as good as the Michelin's I have to say, I took the Bisham roundabout like it was on rails!

Re: Tyre choice?
MPSS are in a league of their own when pushed hard. If you're finding the dunlops just as good then you're not pushing hard enough

I'll try harder! Taking that roundabout did trigger the emergency g sensor in my dash cam though so I was doing something rightRossDagley wrote:MPSS are in a league of their own when pushed hard. If you're finding the dunlops just as good then you're not pushing hard enough

Re: Tyre choice?
Just picked up car from Audi Camberley with new set of Dunlop GT Sportmaxx 275/35/ZR20/102Y R01s. Or so I thought. I have looked at the sidewalks now I am home and see they say GT Sportmaxx J on them. Quick Google says the J designation is for Jaguars not Audi!! I assume this is an issue and Camberley will have to change the tyres and swallow the cost? What a pain as they aren't even local for me. Views?
Re: Tyre choice?
I wouldnt worry mate as long as the load and speed rating is correct they will be fine. I have used the Jag ones and Merc ones all performed the same all designed for big heavy powerful beasts. Still might be worth a phone call you may get some pennies back !!!! Or a Jag for the tyres !!!!

Re: Tyre choice?
It would not be such a pain if I had not specified my choice as the RO1 version, which I concluded on to stick to the stock OE spec and if the J on the side wall was not so large! - almost looks like a different model tyre and of course does not match the one tyre that I had kept on the car as only replaced in Feb. Ho hum...
Re: Tyre choice?
I see what you mean about the "J " and with one RO1 tyre !!!!

Re: Tyre choice?
Audi Camberley kindly re-ordered the correct R01 tyres and replaced the J version they had incorrectly fitted. As others have said before, I would recommend these guys - more expensive than independents but very professional and good service. Ask for Kayleigh O'Rriordan who will look after you.
