Panel Filters
I keep nearly going to buy new panel filters (BMC I think) and then I bottle it for fear of wasting £100.
My car is standard and I don't intend to map it any time soon. Is it worth upgrading the panel filters?

Milltek Hybrid Exhaust, Revo Stage 2 remap (708bhp & 838nm)
Advanced key, adaptive cruise, plus all the usual.
Already had to change the oil sensor twice!

It shouldn't make a noticeable difference as the engine is still only pulling stock boost. However it really becomes a benefit *when* (not if) you decide to re-map it

Yep - Heathfield and work in Lewes.
I'll keep you posted, but as Ian has said, not expecting anything from them but prep for the inevitable trip to MRC at some point.
It'd be nice to see another around East Sussex.

I had a set of filters fitted on standard car as a previous customer had ordered them then changed their mind so got them a bit cheaper. I didn't notice any difference but I'm sure it helps now it's mapped.
Steve I'm sure you must be one of the RS6,s I have seen in Lewes as I work there to.

Well easy enough job to do, much easier than the f@£&!ng 6 disc auto changer that I swapper over on Sunday, my knuckles are still sore from that.
Took about 40 minutes and just a slow process of working back from the air intake to get at the air box, sorry for the pic heavy response but I thought this might be help anyone else considering a DIY install.
I'm replacing with BMC race filters and tools were the trusty Makita srcrewdriver and bit set (T30, PH2 and a reasonably broad flat) plus the mandatory head torch!
I started on the right hand (passenger) side as there looked like more space.
First up, fully remove the T30 screw holding the air intake to the air box.
Gently loosen off the two clips, where the air intake goes into the head, don't fully remove them but enough to get a bit of wriggle, go less than more and come back to this if you haven't done enough of step three.
Loosen of the air intake at the front of the engine bay where it comes from the ducts / bumper, it's a single clip and again, not fully off but enough to wriggle.
Now if the three clips are loosened off enough, you should be able to remove the hose from the bottom of the air intake. I done this very gently with a broad flat head screwdriver and eased it of. Once off you can then rotate the air intake on the top hose but do not remove it.
Next is to undo the four retaining screws on the air box using a Philips size 2. They do not come out but are retained in the air box lid, make sure they are fully undone (they will spin).
The is a second intake on the side of the air box, held on by a very flimsy retaining clip, the knack is to (VERY) gently squeeze the 3 and 9 o'clock position (they should have a serrated section) and then pull the whole hose back.
Once this is off, it's a case of needing at least three hands to rotate the air intake away from the air box. Keeping it away from the air box, raise the air box lid flat and level. All being well you should be able to safely remove the old panel. Whilst mine was out I gave the inside a bit of a clean as well, as it was filthy!
Placing the new panel in is a doddle (as long as the air box lid is clear) and the a case of putting it back together in reverse order.
My old filters were proper filthy!

Skirs6 - I'm the Daytona grey one with the reg ending in XEX (PH smiley Sticker on the rear) normally parked up in County Hall car park.
I've spotted a Daytona RS4 and Phantom Black RS4, both avant's but not other 6's around.
Give me a wave if you spot me around.

Good work Steve. You want to come round and fit my replacement rear lights?? I make a good coffee, and hands down, Budgens over the road make THE BEST doughnuts!

I am running ITG foam filters in mine and didnt notice any difference really, but mine where basically black so it was time for a chnage, cost for cost the ITG's where much better value!

Also on ITG. Car sounds a tiny bit louder from induction under load and you can just about hear the boost being dumped if you snap off the throttle in 3rd where as I could not hear that with the old filters.

Will +1 that you can indeed hear it dump boost especially in 3rd, although i've never noticed before because either the music or exhaust usually drown it out!
