Brakes needed
Brakes needed
Hi all i have recently had a mrc stage 2 map on my rs6 avant i went to the ring last weekend and on my first lap the brakes started wobbling shaking ive ben told the discs can not put up with the heat ..Is this normal .
If so whats a good fast road pacage the discs feel like brand new stil with 0 lip.

Re: Brakes needed
I also have a Stage 2 map and have just fitted ATE SuperBlue fluid, a set of AP Racing Discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and (when/if they arrive) a set of Phaeton backing plates to direct the airflow on to the discs which are much better than my RS6 ones which are currently removed as they do nothing for airflow.
So far I'm very impressed but I'm doing a trackday this Saturday and then Nurburgring in early Sept so I'll give you some feedback on my setup then.

How do the AP racings discs compare in price to OEM ??

Re: Brakes needed
Initially you need both bits of the disc & hub but then it's disc only when replacing them so about £100 cheaper per disc -
First setup
2x Disc - £590
2x Hub - £200
Replacement
2x Disc - £590

Re: Brakes needed
Standard discs are fine for the ring.
Pads and fluid are everything on these cars, the cooling duct mod helps loads of course too.
If you're getting judder then it's nothing to do with heat, it's uneven pad material transfer or hub runout - both of which are resolved with a skim.
Skim the discs, change pads to something more aggressive (if you're tracking the car something like EBC Yellows as a minimum), get the best fluid you can in there and re-attack.

Here's an article (Click ME) I wrote earlierbig fud wrote:Many thanks discs coming off wed for a skim and ds2500 pads ordered can some one show me this cooling duct mod please.

Fluid is personal preference - most premium brand 5.1 fluids are similar in performance. It's only when you start looking at hardcore trackday fluids things start to specialise - and then you'll need to perform more regular changes. I would recommend something like Motul RBF600 as a good product (and I use it in my track clio).

Re: Brakes needed
Can get the parts direct from any VW dealers parts department, or preferably via TPS.

Re: Brakes needed
I'm still waiting for my Ducts to arrive, been 3 weeks so as Audi have them on backorder. However, after my trackday on Saturday I may decide to leave the ducts off as the new AP/Ferodo/SuperBlue setup was fantastic, no fade, wobbles or noises etc and I did about fifty 170mph to 50mph stops with no cool down period (stopped for a passenger swap less than 30 seconds after each stop and then away again). The DS2500's smoked a bit after 3-4 laps but they performed brilliantly.

You need these part numbers -
2x CP8080Z240 - Bells
1x CP8080Z24CG12 - Right Disc
1x CP8080Z25CG12 - Left Disc
The bells need fitting to the discs (all parts supplied) and you need a 6NM Torque wrench & an E12 Star Socket (maybe E10) but its very simple and only takes about 15 minutes per disc.
