Any advice over Firmware MMI update?

Post by dsearle » Sun Jul 26, 2015 1:45 pm

Hi everybody,

I've been noticing a few glitches in my MMI over the past week and wondered if a software update on the MMI may help a little. I took a screen shot and have the following versions shown in the display:

SW: C6-HU 51.4.0 0731
HW: C6-HU 6351D2.0

Has anybody done an update? Any recommendations? Are there release notes available to understand what fixes come which each update?

Cheers,

Dave

Hi there

I did mine last year shortly after acquiring my car

A quick google will get you the software for free, and a how to guide

it burns onto 3 cd's

from memory the last/lastest version is 5570 you have 5140

the update allows 3d maps in sat nav, bug fixes and an improvement in the bose sound system

make sure the car is running when you update, as a failing battery is NOT recommended!

from memory it took about 15-20 mins to update

Good luck

Is this something Audi dealers could do at service?

Could I buy them discs from you?

You can even update the MMI to have Audi connect and Google Streetview, (requires hardware and software upgrades) Bluetooth streaming -music, Wifi exactly like a 2015 RS 6 but to do that I've been quoted £3,500.00!

I suspect there's a different process for 2G and 3G. I had my 3G done at the stealers when I had a voucher. There were no CDs.....

Yeah I think you're probably right about the 2G/3G difference

Just to clarify I have a 2G system so you update it with 3 CD's in the CD player

I did mention to Audi Colchester what I had done

They looked at me blankly, also stated that they NEVER update software on cars....

I found it easy to do

Definitely worth it on 2G system, the 3D satnav map is much better

Also improves the Bose sound system and bug fixes

I don't suppose you could sort me some discs out so I can update my 2g mmi? I'm happy to pay you. I've only got my iPad and iPhone for Internet at the moment so have no way of burning the discs.

If someone would like to see me a copy of the upgrade discs please pm me, or more preferably if there's anyone in west London area, install it for me, I'm a bit of a technophobe!
Also does anyone know if it's possible to display a video source on the screen of a 2g mmi if you don't have a tv tuner?

This week I thought I'd ask Audi to check if there is a newer version of the MMI for me to update to. I was expecting to hear that yes there is a newer version and that it will cost £££££ to update. Instead I get told that I have the latest version. Can somebody confirm that Audi TonBridge Wells are talking rubbish. Surely 5570 is for all RS6 C6s no?? Does anybody in the South East have the discs and help possibly?

I'm in Colchester if that helps.

The update would be at your own risk, I would not take any responsibility.

Mine updated no problem if that reassures.

As far as I'm aware 5570 is the latest (last?) update for 2G, you have 5140

the update was really easy to do, I completed it a couple of weeks ago (after having to replace the 6 disk autochanger which went kaput) with the downloaded files.

I'm in East Sussex if you do need a hand, you will need a battery charger to do it as well as a fair bit of time!

Does anyone have before/after pics of the 3D maps?

I have the 3CDs ready to go, plus the 2015 Nav DVD also ready to go....but I'm stuck in Saudi for another couple of weeks before I can update, so would be nice to get a sneak preview!

Also, should I update firmware, then do the DVD, or do the DVD and then update firmware???

It makes no difference as the Nav DVD and the MMI CD's update different things, even though the MMI has "nav" bits in it.

Hi Dave,

I got your message and for some reason the reply is stuck in the outbox, but not sending!

happy to help out - i'm in Heathfield, so about 45 minutes away, but got stuff on for the next few weekends, its probably going to be mid Sept?

I downloaded the 3x disks from A6Retrofits website and they worked well, but if your worried, happy if you want to get the disks via audi. i've got a trickle charger here as well.

Cheers
