Decisions Decisions, C5 v's C6

Post by R5XVB » Sun Feb 22, 2015 12:57 pm

I'm a fairly recent convert to the RS but not Audi, now addicted...

Having owned my C5 Avant for a wee while now, stepping back into our other cars feels too sedate and actually almost as though there's something wrong with them :). Personally I prefer 'classic' look cars like mine but the refinements and seriously more powerful engine in the C6 Avant seem, interesting. You know what I mean :biggrin2:

What advice would those who have owned both models give me, what big differences will I notice and is the additional money worth the upgrade in your opinion?

I had to put in £24k on top of what I sold my C5 plus for, and I can honestly say, every single penny was well spent. That was just over two years ago, it should now cost even less to do the C5>C6 change.

There's really no contest between the two, the C6 is leagues ahead of the C5, in every single way.

If you can, do it, right away.

There are posts comparing the C5/C6 in the C6 forum somewhere. To summarise, C6 does it all better (bar noise), and doesn't break all the time like the C5. Looks are subjective. The C5 does sounds better but C6 blips the throttle on downshifts and gives a sweet backfire noise on up shift which makes up for it. Buy a C6 right away, you won't look back.

I agree with MrV10 owned the C5 for three years now the C6 for just under a year as many will say night and day. The V8 rumble was nice though but doesn't make up for all the plus points on the C6. Do it you won't regret it.

Everything is better, and it doesn't break all the time.

Once you've owned the C6, you'll realise why I said 'no contest' in my initial post. It's not even close, the C6 is that much better.

No offence C5 guys, still got love for the C5, just saying how IMO the C6 is everything the C5 should have been.

It's a monster!!!!! Just look at the thread the ease at which you can achieve 700plus bhp. Plus will Audi ever go with a 5ltr V10 family estate again?? I think not.

have made the same step recently and even though i loved my C5 and initially refused to believe the guys here saying that the C6 is so much better, i must now say it is indeed far better than the older one. However i still do think that the C6 doesn't feel that special, at least to me, it lacks something, don't know what yet, maybe because it is so good at what it does which is being a uber fast saloon packed with luxury features, it is no sports car, that's for sure and have no such expectations, but overall it is a great package and it can easily satisfy the needs of a safe and quite luxurious family car and a fast one as well, all at the same time.

Having recently upgraded from C5 to C6 I agree with the comments above. I would add that although I loved the V8 noise, now that I have fitted a decatted 3" exhaust on the C6 I much prefer it to the C5. Up-shifts in tunnels is like a gun shot and the down-shift blips are very addictive.
