Having left the UK back in 08 I've gone through the American V8 thing with a 7 seater tank, 300c SRT8 etc but have been looking forward to getting back to german engineering. With 3 kids the Rs6 seemed the obvious choice.
As ive been viewing this forum for ages prior to purchasing, I must say its about as good as it gets, so thanks for all the helpful info to date. The thing here in Dubai is ( as I'm sure Ahmed would agree) that these beasts are rare as hens teeth so finding a good, low mileage example has been a long / hard slog.
I eventually collected a 2010 Daytona Grey , black interior with white stitching and 2014 nav loone on standard 20"s with 44k on the clock. Now here comes the calculated risk bit. It's got a full service history from the stealers ( that ive checked) but I bought from an Indy.
With my knowledge of these cars from this forum I went armed with my check list, where it was documented to have had all the usual suspension ailments replaced and sits on new(ish) good quality boots etc. The steel brakes were on their way out so saw this as a haggling opportunity. As the car is out of warranty I took it to my local garage for the sump guard to be removed and checked for oil leakage and came back with a full bill of health.
The drive home was like stepping out of the General Lee and into a space ship both in terms of speed and refinement. To say I'm pleased is an understatement and everyone who sees it loves it. I would say, as many others have commented, the standard exhaust is too subdued and intend to resolve that soon.
My plans are the usual:
BMC Filters - done
Mod stock exhaust as the Rozzers here are having a crack down at the moment
Remap - now if anyone knows someone ( preferably with Doug's intimate knowledge of all things Audi) I would be a happy man. I'd go for the gearbox upgrade to if available.
I've searched high and low on the Internet here but they all seem to be generic maps on offer (650 stage 1 / 700 stage 2)
I think I recently read Someone in Dubai got big numbers on their friends RS6 so happy to learn more on that one.
Anyway great site and looking forward to many posts and some more useful tips
