A rhetorical question
A rhetorical question
If you were a franchised dealer, would you sell a used vehicle with the following “features” ?
- Previous accident damage and substandard repair leading to headlight unit and bumper misalignment
- New battery required (old one causing intermittant startup issues)
- Loose, broken glass trapped in tailgate trim from previous repair
- Worn rear wiper motor with wiper arm fused to motor; both requiring replacement
- Service schedule not set-up correctly
- No record of brake fluid change (should have been done given current mileage)
- No record of spark plug change (should have been done given current mileage)
- No record of air con service (should have been done given current mileage)
And this is the stuff I MISSED having been distracted by other bodywork issues etc that were rectified prior to handover.
Slowly getting there with this car, assuming that the dealer is going to play ball following an independent inspection. I should have known better than to try and get a good deal on a shabby car. Luckily all is well otherwise, but this is severely testing my patience. My experience of dealing with them leads me to conclude that there has been no deliberate obfuscation; it’s more a case of very little attention paid and *absolutely* no clue what-so-f**king-ever about the car itself.
I’m not going to name and shame unless they don’t do the right thing; needless to say that if you’ve ever dealt with them you’ll probably have the same opinion.
Please share your tales of dealer woe, to make me feel better...

Re: A rhetorical question
And recommendations, please, for outstanding franchised dealers in London or north of London.
Re: A rhetorical question
this may be a stoopid question or i may have missed another post, but given the issues, why did you carry on with the purchase of the car?
I know they are fairly sparse on the market, but you must have either got a great deal or needed a C6 more than your body weight in crack by the sounds of it.
If i were you, i'd take the car to Amar's (Mr V10) recommended garage and get the other dealership you bought the car from to foot the bill. Probably easier said than done, but you're putting up with a lot of grief there fella

Re: A rhetorical question
No, it’s not a stupid question - totally valid. Think I was overexcited if I’m completely honest... but nevertheless thought I’d spotted everything. I spotted the bumper / headlight issue and they told me they’d rectified it, then I picked it up on a rainy afternoon and all looked ok... and then I got distracted by shifting a tonne of stuff out of my trade-in... but, it seems like they are going to cover the repair. Yes, I’d rather have it done at a reputable body Shop and they can foot the bill, rather than leave it with them to do. I know a few places.

Re: A rhetorical question
You're not alone mate. I bought mine private a few months ago the guy had only bought it from Audi 9 months before. The obvious bits I could see or the owner told me. However after spending a bit of time giving it a good clean I noticed the rear near side door had a kind of haze across it. Clearly a very poor paint job.
I then decided to do some digging managed to contact two previous owners both stated no body work had been done during their ownership.
I then contacted Victoria Audi London where the vehicle had been purchased new and every service up to now.
After several phone calls they confirmed back in 2009 the vehicle had new front and rear bumpers, new rear offside door rear near side door repair and new rear tailgate glass.
I asked if they had done the repair as it was very poor and they were quick to say it would have been west London Audi. After several phone calls they told me they have since changed body shops.
At this point I decided to give up. The repair and paint looks like it's been done by a YTS student.
What concerns me more is this vehicle has been sold twice since as an Audi approved vehicle.
To add to the list there is still glass rattling around in the tailgate and the wheels look like they have been touched up by the same YTS student with their graffiti can !!!!!
All this has been within the so called approved used Audi !!!!!!
Audi are very good at selling lovely new cars but. That's about as far as it goes.

Re: A rhetorical question
I've had cars from three different Audi dealers over the past few years and they have all been absolutely shocking in terms of customer service and just blatant BS. By contrast, the best service I've experienced has been at a "lowly" Ford dealer for my wife's C-Max. Does my head in. Getting Richard Tipper from Perfection Valet in to do a detail very soon. No doubt he will uncover a million things wrong with it as he did with my B7 RS. Never mind, I'll get there in the end!skirs6 wrote:You're not alone mate.
