Audi Extended Warranty
Hi All,
Had the warranty transfered from the original owner and have had no notification as yet but noticed the admin charge £20 cheque was cashed.
Do they send out a confirmation letter? As theres a list of things i need them to look at and not sure if there covered under warranty:
1. Rear LED dim
2. Oil level keeps coming up
3. Wheel Bearing click
4. Engaging reverse sticks and car doesnt move.
Thanks

Re: Audi Extended Warranty
They usually do not send any letters.
Ring Mondial direct and confirm the details have been changed over.
Also confirm the car is still under warranty before attempting to make any claims.
All items you mention should be covered under warranty.

Re: Audi Extended Warranty
Oil level could be the oil level sensor. Mine did this - kept asking to be topped up, but was in fact the sensor. At over £400 notes for the sensor alone, you'll be thankful for the warranty!

Re: Audi Extended Warranty
Book into another dealer.
Audi UK do not need to be involved with any warranty claims, ur stealer should handle this.

Unless he'd been on the blower to Mondial which makes more sense.

C6 box issues are not unheard of.
You'll find an oil change usually solves most.

Re: Audi Extended Warranty
not sure if the light will be covered. My 3rd brake light had the centre LEd out, wasnt covered.
I then used to get an intermitant reverse light out error when engaging reverse, the light would come on but still an error. It was the bulb holder its self, they said it wasnt but when i swapped left to right the problem moved, they where addament it was a wiring loom thats not covered.
Fixed this myself by soldering a dummy 501 bulb into the back and leaving it hidden away, never a problem after that and they wanted me to buy the whole cluster which was fine.

The box is according to Audi a sealed unit and they really believe this as I've had the conversation with Mtech, but it does make sense to do a gearbox oil & filter service and dif oil change/service every 40k or 4yrs on a car like this. £650 ish well spent IMO.
I was watching Wheeler Dealers the other night and Brewer bought a Boxter S for £1k because the owner stupidly thought his gearbox was shagged. All it needed was a gearbox oil and filter change and bingo as good as new again...car re-sold for £8k...go figure, but it's this sort of example that should convince anyone to not necessarily listen to Audi on this one. Mine goes to MRC for its first gearbox and diff oil change soon.

Defo PF
I had my gearbox oil done 5k ago.
Just had diff oil done at Unit 20 at Xmas.
Car seems smoother through drivetrain now too.
Car has done 46k.

Re: Audi Extended Warranty
Great...that's good to know it feels different and worth doing. Wasn't a big convince for me though as I'm a big fan of frequent oil/fluid changes. My other car is a 2011 and it's only done 8k but has had 4 oil changes even though it's on a silly 20k interval schedule. Gets fresh oil at start of track season, sometimes in middle and then at the end when it's wrapped-up for winter.RS6chris! wrote:Defo PF

I'm also thinking about getting the gearbox map and a stage2 done rather than chop it for the next version or something else which I would normally have done 3yrs ago, in order to keep it interesting. I was chatting to another forum member about the KwVs he'd fitted to his car that still work with DRC. Is this what you had done to yours? He said it was a great mod and much smoother/composed.
I draw the line at silly wheels and lowering kits though

I had a gearbox fault come up on mine (cog symbol in place of the selected gear), stayed in 3rd all the time IIRC. Cleared when I stop the car, then would come up again as soon as I put it in reverse. Chingford had the car for 3 weeks, took it in two weeks before Christmas after me waiting two weeks for an appointment, got virtually no information throughout, was booked on a ferry to travel for Christmas, no courtesy car. Had bought the car approved used 3 months before that, and done c. 1000 miles (then 33k). Was not happy.
Couple of days before Christmas they they've made no real progress, no courtesy car, had no time to do a vehicle health check. Then they tell me they need to replace the gearbox. Fortunately it required warranty approval, at which point Chingford were told to try changing the gearbox oil filter first, which solved the problem (this was Christmas 2012, and no recurrence). They never found time to do the vehicle health check.
When it came time for a service, I asked them for a quote (only wanted it for comparison after that experience), they never even got back to me.
My advice, use another dealer. I went to Rob Chorley at Camberley next time (travelled from East London), and the difference in service was like night and day. Was well worth the effort to go over there, Rob really knows his stuff, has a passion for these cars, and really helped me out when I was stuck.
If you do go to Chingford, don't make a schoolboy error like me, and allow them to wash your car unless you are planning a correction detail (this was on a previous visit). When I went in with this fault I asked them not to wash the car after the last experience, they washed it anyway.
