Only had a short blast in it on them, going for a meal in 10 mins in Birmingham so will have a proper go. They're going to feel epic compared to the old buckled wheel, and wrong spec tyres I was meant to run as a temporary measure.

Arrghhh

The famous 50p seal!!

I was one of the first!!

Seems a weak spot then by the sounds of things?

One bonus for me was I got engine oil changed, new coolant, air con regassed and gearbox oil done at same time...and the rocker cover gaskets as they were weeping?...don't forget 4 wheel alignment too as full front suspension comes out?

(Gearbox oil wAs extra but worth doing when engine/box was out)

Get them to check all other gaskets...rocker covers were pennies to do in the grand scheme of things.

Makes me wonder how many other C6 have the leak????

Yeah, they're doing the four wheel alignment and have said anything that could/will perish to be replaced, they asked if I had adaptive cruise in relation to the four wheel alignment, not sure what difference that makes but I'm confident it will be done properly, hence the four hour roundtrip to avoid my local dealers!

That 53p seal, when it went for it's MOT and health check at another stealer they said no leak - same ones who messed up my DRC replacing a wheel bearing! LOL

It is going to a trusted master tech in London to check out and repair/advise... (He has three others in for the same leak from the seal)!

*And C6 values drop*

Values appear to have stabilised somewhat... I was offered £30k trade without even seeing mine in flesh, which I was surprised about. Know I could sell it privately for more but thought a dealer would bid me in the balls more than they did.

Which MasterTech you using? Wimbledon?

Will try the F1s next as people rave about them so much as long as can get them for price I pay for MPSS ie £900-950.

Chris - dear chap...ratios and percentages are interesting stats. One, two, three or four of these happening in hundreds of cars is not necessarily a weak spot or a lot :bigwave:

I think I've said previously that my MasterTech deals with approx 10 of these cars and none of them - so far - have had this issue. I always chat to him about it and he's not had the issue or heard that it's common. Not to suggest it isn't to those of you that have had it of course, but it's about scale and incidence and I think its important not to over egg this.

These cars are now 5-6yrs old and will require maintenance...within warranty period I would be upset, but if you're going to run what was a £90k V10 car 6yrs ago, you've got to expect to pay fairly high costs for age related and ongoing maintenance...as it's still a £90k car that's getting old. For Aero engines for example the seals and certain parts are replaced at amazing intervals and timescales compared with what we're now dealing with 5-6yrs on with our complex motors.

Not dismissing this stuff, but just trying to put some perspective on it :bigwave:

Of course, what you say of course makes sense.

I think we've "heard" of maybe 4 or 5 now?

All I'm saying is it's obviously a weak spot...looks like it has affected 2008 and 2009 build year models too.

I think there's circa 350 C6 in UK?.....so as you have said on the grand scheme of things it's a small few...but defo a weak spot?

Chris.

I found Camskill the cheapest by far for GoodYear Eagle F1 AS2's - They don't do fitting (unless local to their shop) but 4 tyres worked out £140 cheaper than Asda etc which is plenty of cash to get them fitted!

4x 255/35-19 96Y XL GoodYearF1 AS2's (C-A rated versions) inc fitting -

Camskill - £635 + fitting cost, say £10-15 per tyre for £700 total.
Asda - £775
BlackCircles - £809
MyTyres - £763

Thought I would bump this thread rather than start something similar.

Will need a couple of tyres in a month or so and was going to get a pair of Dunlop SportMaxx in 98 XL for £209 each fully fitted (as already fitted) but have seen the Falken Azenis in 98 XL for £188 each fully fitted.

Don't suppose anyone has an experience of them?

Another bump for such great thread ...

I'm about to go for a C6 in few days and tiers seems need to be replaced. It has the OEMs Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT and when i phoned the Dunlop dealer in Dubai they told me that GTs not in stock and it does not even come!! and they have the replacement tires which same specs and half the cost of the GTs which is Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT. Anyone have them or experienced them before to provide a feedback and how to compare them with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric and Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Make sure whatever you get are correct spec?

Tyre dealers will tell you anything for a sale?

They have to be 102y rated for a start?

Lots of tyres about in correct size BUT not correct load rating.

They have the same exact specs as the GT 275/35 R20 102Y but half the price of the GT. They told me that the only difference is that GT is an OEM tier which is why it's very expensive but other that that it's exact the TT!!

Got a great deal on a set of GoodYear F1 AS2's 275/35 R20 102Y from the GY dealer in Dubai with 50% discount (around £600 with fitting and balance) as they are bit old (2012 production date) and they don't have stock currently of any newer date. What do you think guys??? does it make any difference to get 2012 tiers??
