Post by salamanzer » Sat Aug 18, 2012 2:48 pm

Just a quick hello,

Just collected my RS6 pics below;

20120818_142031a.jpg

Car seems to have most options including;

Ceramic Brakes
BOSE
Heated front and rear seats
2G MMI (Not 3G Sadly)
Adaptive cruise control
etc

Really happy with the purchase, now I'm considering a re-map at MRC.... :blackrs4: and getting the silver satins painted black

Good choice on ceramic brakes, only way to roll in a C6 IMO
Get to MRC now! You're missing out big time!

The adaptive cruise control is gonna take some getting used to!

If you come up behind another car at speed, the car breaks as you pull out to overtake if you leave it a little late....

Need to do a few paint bits on the car, stonechips here and there to get fixed, else the car is in good overall condition....

The ceramics are very good at slowing the car down, but once hot start to become more of an on/off switch and have got me out of some issues with idiots that don't understand roundabouts!

Sounds like a trip to MRC is going to have to be booked.... but i do a lot of motorway miles, does the increased power affect MPG much?

Its what some places do when you have nitrogen fills :bash:

They need replacing with the Original OEM silver ones :bigblink:

I really am surprised by the apparent lack of Avants with MMI 3G, clearly I was lucky with that one!

Hi Salamanzer, :bigwave:

Congratulations on your new car. Daytona Grey is my favorite colour, after phantom black.

when you mean paint the silver satins black, are you referring to the alloy trim around windows and grill?
If you are, rather than paint black, I would recommend wrapping the trim with flat black on windows surrounds and roof racks and gloss black wrap around the grill as I have done.
Cheaper than painting, do not have to remove the trim and run the risk of damaging it and if you want to go back to original alloy trim, just peel the wrap off.

Just my two cents worth.

Yes the green caps was due to the nitrogen refill, now they are back to black caps ;)

Thats a good heads up on the trim John, my good friend is a painter, but wrapping them maybe a good idea instead of having them removed and possibly damaged.

Any good places to have the wrapping done?

The car has a good level of spec, seems most things were included when purchased, i had been looking for quite a while for an advant with the 3G MMI, didnt find one in my price range, was looking for 6months.... saloons no problems with the 3G.

Spec is;

Ceramic Brakes
Solar sunroof
DVD Sat Nav (2G)
TV
Adaptive cruise control
DAB
Reversing camera
advanced key
Alcantara headlining
Power boot
Other stuff + standard options

Really happy with the car, I bought the colour after seeing it in the flesh and eyeballing D_K's saloon here on the forum =)

But it does seem like a remap at MRC is going to have to be next....

One quick question, best to ask in the forum....

Seems the battery on the car is dying.... what is the best battery to replace it with? It seems to charge, but not hold on to it for very long.... after a while the boot stops opening and the engine to start is a bit lazy.... once the car is running everything is perfect.

Can you get high quality Bosch Silver batteries for the RS6?
