Track Day Tyre Pressure - What do you run?

Post by JSG » Sun Mar 25, 2012 8:18 pm

Hey Guys

Got a track day coming up and the last few I have been at I have had some issues with the tyre pressure and heat expansion. For day to day I normally run 38psi, but this seems to high for the track with heat expansion, they expand to around 45psi, and once they went up close to 50psi, had to lower them during the day as they where starting to bulge, So this time i am going to set them all a bit lower, maybe around 35psi and see how it goes. Running stock wheels but the way.

Anyone else had any similar issues, what are you running at ?

You may well need to be less than 30psi... make sure you warm them in for a lap each session.

Keep an eye on the TPMS, keep dropping the pressure as required... the C6 will overheat it's tyres in a 20min session on track even with Nitrogen (which I would recommend)

Soon as you start squealing badly and understeering like crazy come off and let them cool.

Remember to pump them up again before you leave the circuit to drive home.
