So what would you change?
So what would you change?
Having owned my rs6 for a few months now I've found a couple of things I don't like about my car. I was wondering if you guys have found things that irritate you about yours? (besides the obvious fuel consumption!)
Also, any options you wish you had had fitted to your car that you didn't along with any options you would have left out with hindsite?
Would you buy the car again?
And lastly,
What other cars did you consider and what would you consider in the future?
Things I don't like are:
1: Although supportive, I find the seats too hard.
2: I don't particularly like the engine note even with my milltechs.
3: I wish you got that nice explosive sound at gearshifts other than at rapidly illegal speeds!
4: I wish I got that nice blip on downchanges in regular drive and not just sports mode.
5: The brakes lack feel, particularly when cold.
6: Suspension in sports mode is way too hard for uk roads, it needs to be somewhere inbetween what it is now and dynamic mode.
7: The position of the tailgate release is too low in the door pocket. I’ve opened it by accident a few times when feeling around for something else.
8: Boot is very small for such a big car.
Options I wish I had:
1: Radar cruise. I had it in my mercs and really miss it.
Options I could do without:
1: Tv tuner. Unless I am parked in just the right place at just the right time of day, It’s a waste of time.
I would buy it again.
I considered:
1: Bmw M5 but the gearchanges were terrible in regular driving situations.
In the future:
I’m very curious about the Merc e63amg estate.
Just wondering what you guys think about yours.

1) Love the seats, I have a prolapsed disc and they suit just fine.
2) Happy with the sound but think its diff since mapping.
3) MMMMMmmmmm not sure your TC would LOL
4) Agreed, I do like that!
5) Think the brakes do a damn good job considering the weight.
6) Totally agree, not tracked mine yet but sure Sports mode would even be hard there.
7) Agreed, have done the same... a worry when under the garage door!!
8. Plenty big enough for me but everybody has differing uses.
Wish I had ceramics from the off, too expensive to retro fit and not a massive difference to enjoy day to day but sure they're great on track etc.
Not sure about radar cruise unless you do a lot of quiet motorway driving, spoke to T2FOO about his last week and seems like a stress to me.
I use my TV regularly in and around London and it excels as a good signal can be had, agreed the Mrs gets upset when we're travelling and it cuts out during Corrie LOL
I had the A6 3.0TDI Le Mans prior so pretty much knew what I was getting equipment/size wise, neither that car nor this has missed a beat and I love it.
Would I buy again YES... if anything close is built, think we have a classic in muscle car terms and can't see it being repeated anytime soon.
In the wet last night mine recorded a 3.68sec 0-60mph with ESP on (using Racelogic PB).
Testing the new R8 Spyder tonight but not looking to change the 6 in a hurry!!!

1. I find the seats great, although I do have a fat arse, so that might be soaking up some of their Germanic solidity.
2. I do miss the growl of my RS4 sometimes, although the V10 noise on start up is awesome. According to my neighbours.
3. Yes. Bang. Mmmm.
4. Ditto.
5. The brakes work. That's all I care about.
6. I'm rarely out of Comfort mode to be honest, as the car is either in Central London or on motorways. Oh, the shame.
7. Not had that problem, although my auto boot doesn't open all the way to the very top which has resulted in the odd bump to the head.
8. After the RS4, the boot is massive. Plenty big enough for me.
Options: I wish I had the start button, not least because I still haven't got used to the key being to the left of the steering wheel. Mine's got the 7 spoke alloys, which I like the anonymity of occasionally, but will probably swap for the standard 5 spokes one day. I do like the TV tuner - as Nudenut says, the signal in London is good. I'm thinking about getting it converted to In Motion.
I too considered an M5 Touring, but was put off by the dated looks and gearchange. I also considered an S4 Avant, but knew I'd kick myself every time I saw an RS6.
I'd buy one again tomorrow.

1. I do a lot of motorway driving and the seats are a bit on the firm side. I think I just miss my butt-groove from my S4 though.
2. I'm a bit meh about the standard pipes. Seriously considering Milteks and a tune-up.
3. It's a great noise and is to be enjoyed, in anger, wherever it is legal so to do.
4. Sport mode is my once or twice a day treat and that blip is part of the grin-inducing package.
5. I've got the ceramic brake option and they took a bit of getting used to. Awesome when warm, scary when cold. The lack of brake dust is a godsend though.
6. Can't see a use for that sport suspension setting outside of a track or without a gumshield.
7. Haven't had that problem yet.
8. I think I could probably live in the saloon boot.
The adaptive cruise is OK in 50mph average speed check zones, that's pretty much the only place I use it.
The TV function is great, I just want the kids to be able to watch Timmy while we're moving.
I looked at the M5 but I thought it was ugly. I actually bought a Nissan GTR but it was too small in the back, even for a five and two year old.

- I rarely use Dynamic mode, Comfort mode 90% of the time as I find roads around here are far from smooth
- I feel there's too much road noise, but that again is likely due to UKs asphalt
- Far too many squeaks and rattles are appearing
- Turning radius is <beep>, to be frank
No other car can claim to be the "uber wagon" like the RS6, though
Would not purchase again. I wanted to step away from my string of BMWs, but now I find that I miss the tactility and balance that most M bimmers provide.
Next car will be something nimbler and likely RWD.

Great Thread ... Let me add to it
1: Like Nudenut I like the seats .. Could be I'm used to a hard seat as I've always put the sports ones in the Porsches
2: Exhaust sound .. I'm only on std's and yes I wish they where move V10ish .. tempted by a Milltech changed, but concerned re too much cruising noise . .Wish we could get a electronic system like PPorsche or Aston Martin .. ie push button open valve in system for more "noise" when "needed"
3: Who wouldn't like more "nice explosive sound" at downshifts other than at rapidly illegal speeds!
4: Bakes are ok for me and I never push the car when its all "cold" so happy with them
5: Leave mine in dynamic mode all time... (apart from when have the OAP Parents onboard)
6: "The position of the tailgate release is too low in the door pocket. I’ve opened it by accident a few times when feeling around for something else." << LOL I did it once in traffic in torrential rain.. oops
7: Boot is ok for me .. bigger than Cayennes .. takes two folding wheel chairs .. (see #5 above)
8: Have grown an annoying rear boot lid rattle .. which Dealer cant hear !
Would I get another .."Yes" .. If only Audi service does not drive me away ..
Changes .. I'd get the Keyless start, Maybe TV

Ex RS6 C6 Driver, gone but not forgotten.. The best car I have ever owned
I've had the RS6 Avant for 4 months and I'm totally satisfied.
I'd no doubt buy it again. The problem will be to change it, I'll be hard pressed to find something the fulfills all my needs so well.
So far I've had Audi, SAAB, BMW and Lexus. This is the best one ever, the one BMW (535d) was the worst and last one for me.
1. I like the seats, but it takes a bit too long for the heating to kick in.
2. Here I'm a bit "different". I'm not a big fan of noise in general. Hence I like the relatively quite of the RS6, it is actually too noisy for me and my friends.
3. Yes, I admit the gearshift is S mode is really libidinous!
4. As gdavison I never push when the car's cold, hence no problem with the breaks.
5. I use them all. Comfort when in town or with family. Dynamic when on highways on my own. Sport on the track and over 200 km/h on highways ... in my dreams only of course
6. With the Avant I've all the space I want and I never had a problem with the release.
Only option I wish I got are the ceramic brakes, after I went to Monza. But probably not worth it for one day of use.
I did not get the TV as I had it in other cars and almost never used, I'm not missing it.
The radar control is comfortable but I use it rarely as it keeps too long a distance from the front car and it becomes useful only with low traffic and with family. Still I'm glad I have it and I'd buy it again.
The doors auto lock is quite useless, they always "slam" on their own.
I still have to experience the solar roof, I hope it keeps the car cooler. Italy can be quite hot in spring and summer.
The keyless is great, I wonder how I could live without it before
The only two other options I did not get were the side assist and light assist, I'm not feeling the need. Anyone got them? Are they useful?

would i have another - def - there is nothing else like it with awd. that has been a godsend this winter.
-seats fine for me
-i think the boot is ample, and i have 3 children
-the engine is a bit rattly on start up, which i don't like
-brakes are sufficient, even withstood a couple of ring laps 5 up....
-sport mode is only for the track and it's not a track car, so i never use it.
-i never noticed the boot release in the doorbin before !
great car - previously had M5 etc, but this is a much much better daily driver.

To be honest, the boot would be fine if I didn't have to cart around my wheelchair, trike attachment and a pram all at the same time. It only just fits, but at the end of the day it does fit.seawise wrote:would i have another - def - there is nothing else like it with awd. that has been a godsend this winter.

I know what you mean about rattely at startup, mine is the same with a lot of white smoke for a minute or two. Is everybodys the same?
they all do that, sir - until they go pop.......Holmax wrote: To be honest, the boot would be fine if I didn't have to cart around my wheelchair, trike attachment and a pram all at the same time. It only just fits, but at the end of the day it does fit.

Pretty sure that’s just steam from condensation in the pipe work.Holmax wrote: I know what you mean about rattely at startup, mine is the same with a lot of white smoke for a minute or two. Is everybodys the same?
Took mine out this morn, it does blip the throttle on downshifts in "Drive" but not always, think it's only when its feeling engine breaking to help engage the gear but it does do it.

I'm sure it is just condensation, it's not blue so I don't worry.
A couple of weeks ago I was leaving the Hull City match (I have priority parking on the perimeter). We have to wait fifteen minutes after the final whistle before we can move to allow pedestrians time to disperse. I started my engine to get warm and some bloke came over and give me a right bolloking for 'smoking everyone out'. He soon shut up when my three burly mates turned up to get in the car

If it is "quite" useful in the great Britain, I'm afraid it could be "quite" useless during our summergmk666 wrote:I had the solar roof in my RS4 and it was quite useful. .
I really love the car.
Wish I'd opted for the keyless start.
I adore the carbon fibre trim.
I have the solar sunroof, although I have forgotten what sunshine is.
I just wish there weren't so many C6 RS6s; there's now a red one round the corner from me and the other day when I was shooting clays at West London, there was a black one in the car park. In Norfolk in January I was with eight other guys and one of them had a silver one.
How many are there in the UK, anyone know?
Mine doesn't make a funny noise when cold, it just emits steam for a bit.
