New RS6 ??

Latest information I have today is that the RS6 is confirmed for late Q 1/early Q2 '08.

It will be avant only (at first) and will be in the £65k+ price region. Will have a not insubstantial 580bhp

Sounds promising on paper.

I placed at £1500 deposit with my local Audi dealer in April 2006 and have been assured I will receive the first customer allocation.

Since selling my 3 year old 65k mile RS6 I've not found any other car to fulfill the role so well. I bought a new RS4, had that a couple of months and found the manual gearbox (years of an auto)/very small fuel tank/ lack of torque was dissapointing compared to the RS6. Although dynamically the RS4 was way ahead of the RS6, as an overall package for me it just wasn't as good.

I've got an MTM'd A6 3.0TDI Quattro Avant and the new RS6 can't come soon enough for me.

I too am an ex-RS6 owner (now got a RS4), and I must say whilst I miss the load/ cabin space, I prefer the hands-on sheer hell-on-earth responsiveness of the RS4… you have to drive the RS4 hard, and by that I mean really wind it up to get the full potential.

That said, I need the space, and so if the new RS6 builds upon the RS4 we’re in for a real treat....

According to EVO magazine, word is that the RS6 might use an all new V10 version of the high-reving RS4 V8 engine, rather than a tuned version of the S6's V10. All will be revealed at this September's Frankfurt show apparently....
