'Sensible' Purchase

A quick straw poll with you all please....
We currently have an RS4 Saloon. We now need an Avant to replace it with and be our daily runner. The RS4 Avants we have found are all looking a little tired (and at greatly inflated prices).
We are considering an S4 Avant as our money would get us a newer car, but weirdly an C6 S6 also falls into our price range (20K max).
We are used to the daily running costs of the RS4, so thats no issue.
Would an S6 be a 'sensible' purchase? They are a gorgeous looking car, but are we likely to be hit with big repair bills on a regular basis?
Many Thanks,
Ash

Cheers for the replies so far.
I suppose my question to those that own the C6 S6 is as follows:
Would you buy it again and does it break down with common faults?
Cheers,
Ash

He means he's never actually met anyone in the world who owns an S6. They're uber rare.

I’ve had mine for 6 months now and excluding incompetence by the supplying dealer its been faultless.
I’m averaging around 19 mpg but do mostly town driving with the occasional motorway run.
I certainly recommend it as a fast luxury barge

S6 V10's are great VFM right now.
Sound amazing, much more refined than B7's and pretty much all the spec of an RS6 except without the price tag or reliability issues !

Been running my S6 for 18 months (10K miles) now with no issues at all, totally reliable. Had all coil packs replaced under some recall, but there didn't seem to be anything wrong with them.
Went on holiaday to France last year in it, family of 4, Eurocamp, no need for a roof box this time, boot is massive, even on the saloon
Everyone loves the S6
But due to my daily driving about to increase it is for sale. Probably get an A3 TDI Quattro 170.
Oh yeah, I get about 14-18 round town and 23-27 on motorway, and strangely 2-3 mpg more on the French motorways (?)

That'll be down to the quality of their roads

It's a great car and doesn't suffer from some of the problems associated with the RS4/6 i.e gearbox, DRC, ICs etc.
A powerful allrounder that sounds fantastic (see my other thread) and is effortless to drive and enjoy. Mines returns between 18-25mpg but it's worth every uneconomical cent
An awesome V10 sountrack that is amplified with a non-res milltek
Love mine.
