Replacement Key B6 S4

Hi, I'm a newbie on here, I've just bought an 04 S4 avant, it only has one key which the buttons are in poor condition. I want firstly a 2nd key, what do I need to purchase, been looking at ebay, can I diy reprogramme?
secondly I want to face lift (recase) the key I have can anyone advise please?

Get a used button section and yes you can recode it but make sure it's the same part number, VAG COM not essential for this.
As for updating it to the later type key, unlikely as the frequency of the new keys are unlikely to be the same so the convenience module in your car wont communicate with the new key.

Sorry by facelift I simply meant getting a case in better condition than mine.

Different frequency? All car remote locking systems work on the same frequency through out Europe and have done so for a long time, it was only the UK being out of step as few years back (>10years) but due to some many European cars coming into the UK we had to change and become harmonised with the rest of the EU.

Hmm, wouldn't trust ebay to be a reputable source of such information. Currently 868MHz is not specified for this type of device/application so 433MHz is the only legit band I know of.
