lookin for help with my vag com

hi everyone

just got my vag com last night, had a bit of a play with it just to get used to it,

anyone got any tips or things to be checking? main thing i wana check is the maff but im not sure how to and what results i should be geting

go into control modules, 01 engine, then go to measuring block 08. if you use the radio buttons at the side of the group button to go to group 002 you should see the maf reading dsplayed. a good maf at tickover should be showing around 4 to 5 g/s

great mate thanks alot. a maff reading 4/5 g/s on tickover is that a genral rule for all models? turbo,n/a, diesel?

sorry for the questions but im trying to learn :oops:

The MAF reading at idle isn't all the meaningful. Log your MAF readings on a full throttle run through the highest gear you dare -- 2nd is OK, 3rd is better. Then find the peak value -- it should be in the 5000-6000 rpm range where your egnine makes peak power. The peak value should be ~80% of expected hp. For example a 250hp engine should have ~200 g/s peak mass air flow.

The above applies to petrol powered cars. Diesels are a different animal because they show MAF readings in mg/stroke, run unthrottled, and tend to run with an excess of air at all times.
