Hey Tom.

Hope you are not too bad and are making a recovery.

Love the detail in this project. I bet the R8 is a joy to drive with all you have done to it.

Take care.

Hello Tom,

Very nice car, just came accross your thread and red the 37 pages. Saddly I can not see the pictures you posted, only in the last couple of pages.
Congratulations on the modifications and final power and weight result, this is a great achievement.
I recently started to be interested in R8s and thinking buying a V8 R Tronic in future to lighten and tune up the engine with a RWD conversion.
My thoughts came when I was looking at what the Porche GT4 RS is capable and was thinking for a lower cost I could possibly tune up a V8 Rtronic and started to make a long list.
Then I came accross your great thread with even more mods that I could think off, specialy regarding the engine.
I owne an RS4 B8 with a stage 2 and other light mods, and a well modified NA Porsche 964.

Many thanks
All the best
Konstantin

Hi @kos11-12

The problem with the old posts is the image service used.

Two of the providers have been shut down, and thus all images are no longer visible. Nothing is permanent, unfortunately.

Hi Tom,

Good to hear. Your car is great! Did you fit the GT rear bumper ?
I will look for one soon, I like to take on this project.
I am modifiying my 964 at the moment, I will fit in the front boot an electric steering pump and an electric AC/heat. moving weight to the front. Also a carbon roof.
All the best

Hi @kos11-12

The GT bumper lies unused in the garage

Really nice project you have there. How much the the weight loose change the car's character? Is it more sharper, Is it more tossable? Currently I am looking for R8 V8/V10 gen1 in order to modify it (only weight reduction). I really don't want to make it into a moneypit and sell it because in the end I do not like how it drives.
Own a gt4rs And love it, Had a 981 2.7 loved 6mt, have a Megane RS 6mt which is awesome, the 718 2.0 that my wife is boring as hell and too soft. Also, I have a "team Schirmer" 20k km m2c with 80k invested in parts alone that I am selling for 55k euros just to get rid of it as I do not like the car overall (too brutal, hard to put the power down, non-liniar, high center of gravity but I love that the car drives on rails and is fun only on track where i rearly drive it as it has to share time with 4rs and megane). Drove a 2022 v10 r8 and found it VERY boring but I'm guessing a Manual gen1, RWD on diet and with suspension mods must drive close to a 911 GT3 in terms of tossability adn fun + THE SOUND. I am wrong?

Hi

The R8 is a racing car for straight roads and not a maneuverable Ford Focus ST
