MRC Carbon Cleaning

Guys - thought this might be an interesting story.

Car has been running a little rough when cold. Have had it into Audi to address. Asked them to update ECU code but they chose not to.

Started a conversation Doug at MRC. He suggested the best way forward was to have a Health Check. Took the car in about 3 weeks ago. Dyno run showed 355ps, greatly reduced amount of air going into the engine/cylinders and a <beep> of up to 13 degrees!

Clearly only 1 way forward - MRC clean. I chose to go for the 'quick clean'. Booked in and waited until 4th. Had also acquired an MTM replacement panel filter and asked for that to be added at the same time. (There's another story that but for another time).

Dropped the car off yesterday and then went off to Bletchley Park for the day.

Came back around closing time. Dyno sheet waiting for me on Dougs desk. 411.9ps !! :D

Unfortunately I was stuck in rush-hour traffic all the way home but will report back soon.

Big thanks to Doug and MRC for another sterling example of top quality work !

Top Result I'd say, just goes to show the boys at MRC know exactly what they're doing!!

That seems too high mate, really? I've never known anyone to get that kind of change from a carbon clean in fact some say that they wouldn't have done it if they'd known how little difference it made. I guess Miss Daisy must have been driving your car! There is a lot to be said for REALLY driving it to the redline and getting air through the cylinders to prevent build-up.

Congrats though, I bet it feels like a different car!

I've always thought there is a lot to be said for an "Italian Tune-up" as well. Get her up to temperature the thrash the bejesus out of it. Particularly relevant in a engine like the RS4 where in most normal driving it never sees the 2nd half of the rev range.

"One carefull lady owner'" probably one of the worst statements you could read in an advert for a car with a 8200rpm redline!!

about the normal increases for a car in that state standard:

Peak Maf from 153 g/s dirty to 178 g/s cleaned
Overall timing from 22 degrees drity to 30 degrees cleaned
