Clunky suspension possible drc?

Post by chanchan » Wed Oct 03, 2012 9:24 pm

Hi. Guys,

I had the whole of my suspension replaced on my 06 b7 8 months ago. It cost £4k and was done under warranty by my local Audi dealer. In the last week or so the car is really noisy going over any form of bump and it sounds like I have a bag of spanners in the boot. The weird thing is, it seems to quieten down when the engine is warm.might just be me!

Could the drc be playing up again, would the engine and subsequent oil being warm ease the noise?
What I am hoping is that if it is drc again would the new parts replaced this year still be under some sort if Audi manufacturers warranty?

I have heard of dealerships replacing the old version 1 with new version 1 suspension, not the newer and better v3.

P.s it had ss+ if that helps some form of diag.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Warranty is something often misunderstood.

If a part is fitted as a replacement under any warranty with no cost to the owner then there is zero warranty on the new parts. They simply inherit the remaining balance of the parts that have been removed.
For example, if you had new drc fitted under warranty one day before the warranty expired and the whole lot failed two days later the technically it is outside warranty (although you would have other recourse as the parts are not fit for purpose but the principle is there).

This is why I've said many times it is worth making a token contribution to the cost of any major repair such as drc as any part payment made by the owner triggers the specific part warranty on the new parts.
