Flat-Bottom steering wheel flawed?

What is the general consensus of the FBSW? I can't help feeling that it is flawed in both concept and execution. It can be disorientating when driving hard on twisties. The plastic section feels cold to the touch esp. in winter. The mis-match, sharp edges, exposed screw holes etc. degrade the feel. I notice that the B8 RS4 FBSW is full leather. What are the popular upgrades for this wheel?

Yes it's flawed but I like it. Much better than the non-flat bottomed alternative on offer in the same car. I'm guessing the B8 FBSW would cost an arm and a leg to swap in so I'm happy to stick with mine.

I must admit i do love my flat bottom, i would not swap it for a round one, i guess any thing with a flat bottom is flawed other than the rs4

I liked the contrast with the silver bottom, good on the eye so to speak, but I agree it was a pain to use especailly when trying to reverse park etc
The new all leather one I have in the RS3 is much better, but as has been mentioned, would probably set you back 4 figures

I've got the naff MFSW which just doesn't seem to fit the interior styling at all, but then I don't like the FB option either - it looks really cheap compared to other steering wheels in other similar spec Audis e.g TTRS. I was going to replace my MFSW with the TTRS wheel which looks lovely, but is £600-odd - might just go for an s-line multi-function wheel instead, not as chunky as the TTRS but doesn't have the fugly silver plastic bit.

WTF!!! the flat bottom wheel in the rs4 is cool nothing wrong with it at all, once you start putting parts from a tt in your car your, your admitting to being a hairdresser man up or sell up and buy a tt

Like all FBSW's they all take getting used to at first. In fact, with your hand you can feel the 5 and 7 oclock positions ( corner of the D shape) so you know where exactly your hands are, I like it.
