So I've tested out the hydraulic side of the clutch operation and that's all good. Its got to be internal now and I recon the thrust has gone through the pressure plate fingers. Stripping box out tomorrow evening and was wondering what's best to put back Oem or aftermarket? Any suggestions would be great

Sachs apparently but I haven't done mine it's just what others say.

The Loba clutches are stronger than the straight forward Sachs ones and very well priced. Mrc also offer an upgrade

Ideal, I take it if I'll a supplier on a general search!? Think I'll ring mrc today and get they're opinion as well! Will post up pics when I've got it off.

I read on another forum (a Subaru one) that you want a clutch with a bit of slippage (and not super stiff) to go easy on the 'all wheel drive' (read: quattro) transmission. Danny, your car had serious amounts of power so I'm guessing you wanted a better clutch just to make sure it wouldn't slip too much and wear out more quickly. Would the clutches you used still be the clutches of choice in a non-supercharged set up?

I've heard the argument manys a time about manufacturers specing their cars to price. Is this true of the Audi clutch? Is there a chance that Audi's engineers know better?

I ran a specific clutch made for my car but Loba offer various levels of performance. It's all done to driving style and longevity, an upgraded clutch should out perform an oem one and they tend to be a little cheaper for some reason (obviously depending on which set up)

id recommend our Organic 550Nm kit Upgrade, this has a very OEM feel because as stated has a full organic friction plate

I can vouch for the LOBA 550nm clutch.
Have had that on my car since Jan this year and is a lot stronger than
Oem, bites harder and takes more punishment.

Sounds good. I'll hunt this thread out whenever my clutch needs doing.

- how does clutch pedal weight compare with oem?
- how did cost compare to oem?

Pedal weight feels the same. The flywheel is lighter so when you gas it and take your foot off the accelerator the cars speed isn't scrubbed off as much as it used to with Oem.
Costwise, I didnt get quote for fitting Oem, as i wanted it upgraded, so i purchased the clutch direct from the guys at LOBA and got my local dealer (Fontain) to fit it for me.
It transforms the car and you never get that "clutch pedal stuck to the floor" moment again

Does that make sense?
A lighter flywheel = less stored energy so the engine and car should slow down more quickly than oem

Its just my observation, that with my old clutch the car would slow down more quickly when off the gas than with the LOBA clutch. Not too sure of the science behind it all.

the loba 550nm kit is quality.
the pedal is maybe ever so slightly heavier than stock but nothing really.
nice bite, on power shifting 2nd to 3rd to 4th ect is real crisp.
i keep thinking of getting a short shift kit i think they would make an awesome combo.
