New owner, a few more questions.

Hi

I picked up my RS4 yesterday after a long drive, and made the decision to get it, after alot of research and looking at prices online etc,
All I can say is wow! the car is amazing it really is, in a totally different league to my old s3!
I have a few questions
Fuel as it says in the owners manual do you all use 98 ron fuel? Its only as i read some-where online that it should be mixed sometimes, the reason why I dont know? My old s3 i always used super or shell optimax no problems and occasionally normal unleaded if there was none of the others!
The oil temp is about 99-100 is that correct?
Also i have a receipt for millteck x2 high flow cats lh and rh, it sounds incredible!!, do you know if that means I have the whole system, or can the cats just be replaced, it sounds different to standard ones,
Oil consumption I know Audis can go through oil and the guide always over estimates oil usage, do you find yours use excessive oil? what oil do they use? as it would probably be worth buying a top up bottle?
Thanks
Thanks

FON!
I wouldn't mix fuel - stick to shell v power - its the best juice.
Oil temp is normal anything between 90 and 110 depending on how you are driving... The engine runs pretty hot.
You can get just the cats but I would have thought whoever put the cats in would put a while system in - check the tips - milltek systems have "milltek" laser etched into them on the top... Of its not there its not got the cat back.
They are all different on oil - some use more than others... If you are on the longline service is 5w30; if it's interval service it's 5w40. Normal use on some cars is half a litre every 5k miles.
Welcome

ref the petrol, i ran mine on vpower for 4 months and once couldnt make it and had to use bp97 instead
what i noticed straight away was a noticable increase in power and also a cure to the sometimes hesitation you can get on a cold start that has been described and a characteristic that can be worked round with a software update, ( that most audi dealers will no nothing about )
ive ran it on 97 ever since, others have noticed this as well
after 3 months of 97 the car is still performing the same ( better than on vpower ) however the hesitation has started again, so im going to try vpower for a bit and see what happens, will let you know

Hi thanks for the reply's I really appreciate it.
it has milltek etched on the tail pipes. is there any way of telling which system it is? Must say the sound is unreal.
I have a few questions?
Does the Miltek system still use exhaust flaps as to be honest I cant notice the difference in sound?
Do the cars have a very and I mean very slight whine noise when driving, almost like a quiet supercharger type noise?
I have noticed underneath that one of the vent things that are attached to the undertray next to the front wheel, they look like cold air feeds to the brakes, has broke a bit, can the be brought/replaced easy enough.
What are the best all round tyres to get, they have pirelli ones on at the moment, they are very grippy but look like a summer tyre?
Thanks

You may have the non-valved Milltek system. Look at the rear of the back boxes by the oval tail pipe and you should see a actuator valve each side, also a metal flap inside one of the inner exhaust ports. If not then you have the non-valved system.
If you look midway under the car and you see no middle back box then you have a non-res system
This is what you are looking for

Hi. I can answer two of you questions at least.
OskiRs4 wrote:Do the cars have a very and I mean very slight whine noise when driving, almost like a quiet supercharger type noise?
It's a result of all the chains. Yes it does sound like a supercharger! A few first-time passengers have commented on mine.

If they're Perillis they're probably P-Zeros. I don't think you'll find many P-Zero fans on here: I've read several times that they just don't suit the car that well, despite being Audi's OEM tyre. I've had Vredstein Sessantas on mine until a month ago, thought they were fine particularly for the price (I'm no expert), but I'm really liking my new Goodyear F1 Assymetric 2's. They feel bedded in now after 900 miles and I think they're excellent in hard cornering. I will put winter tyres (Vredstein Wintrac Extremes) on when it gets cold enough - most forum members would consider that overkill. Turns my RS4 into the ultimate winter driving machine

Hah - that noise on supercharged minis is usually the steering pump on its way out

Thanks for this. I also wondered what it was. Assumed it was ok as it was the same on all the cars I test drove.

I run PZeros and will get rid when they're done which is quite soon. I'm going for the Vredstein Sessantas as the guys on here all rate them highly. My PZeros lasted 5k miles wtf!

If you can stretch to the F1s go for it. Price difference Sessantas vs. F1s is something like two tanks of petrol. I've done about 1,200 miles on mine and really like them. It's all subjective of course.
I went from:
P-Zeros which were on when bought;
Vred Wintrac Extremes;
Vred Sessantas
Wintracs back on again (winter no.2);
Sessantas back on
F1 AS2s
...and will be back on the same Wintracs again soon for the third winter. I'll miss the F1s.

+1 for F1 AS2 tyres. Car is so much better than when it was on P-Zeros. As for fuel, Shell V-Power - the car hates anything else!
