Cruise Control

Hi,

I realise that this may be an alien concept to most RS4 owners and I risk being asked to leave the forum for even considering to use the cruise control function! :ban: However, I seem unable to get it to function. I've read the instructions in the manual and followed them but to no avail. It does not work.

I live in a part of the country where we currently have a lot of those avergae speed cameras in place and could really do with making sure I don't accidentally go above the indicated speed limit. It doesn't take much adjustment of the loud pedal for this to happen.

Just because the car has the cruise control stalk, does it mean it actually has the cruise control functions? Have I missed something obvious in the manual?

Aleks

Just had weeks holiday in Poole and on the way down from Manchester it came in very handy - very impressed (although in a trickey place to see/use)
Sat on cruise at 70mph and returned 25.7mpg @ 5hr 10mins including 30min break :boots: fully loaded with 5 peeps full roof box and boot (RS4 Avant)
Previously ive always smashed down the motorway regardless of fuel the other cars ive had.
Last trip was in a Disco 4 HSE which believe it or not returned a similar mpg at 85-90mph and still did it in around 5hr 10mins
All the cars bazzing past me i caught up later on in the traffic

Criuse for me in future

Yup prob faulty clutch switch, very easy fix.

Do you have to hold your start button in to start the car?

Yes, I do have to hold the start button down to start the car. Being a newbie, I assumed this is normal. Your question suggests otherwise. How do I sort a faulty clutch switch?

Many thanks.

try just pressing your start button once and let go and see if the car starts

Tony - Thanks for the part number and the link. I will look into this.

D_K - I've tried just pressing the button and letting go and the car does not start. I have to hold the button down until the engine has started.

Many thanks for your support guys.

yep, common problem

the 3rd symptom is when changing gears the revs hang a bit before they drop

Thanks do much to you both. Went to the Stealers today and purchased the clutch switch at the price stated. Have been home this evening and replaced it myself as per instructions. Car starts from one touch and cruise now works!

Well chuffed, thanks once again.

Have been looking closely at the MRC website and watching various YouTube clips of Milltek systems. Can't decide what I'd go for yet.

When is the next RS meet? Could do with hearing some members' cars and understanding what systems they have.

Nice one. :beerchug:

The biggest difference for me when replacing that switch was being able to change gear without appearing to have just past my test!

@Tony - I've got a decent drive to the office tomorrow so will see how my gear changes are. Happy to accept that my issues may be due to inexperience of this car especially as I had this issue since I collected the car 3 weeks ago. Looks like I have the pleasure of getting to know the car all over again. Can't wait for tomorrow!
