Audi Servicing

Post by colb » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:43 pm

Due a service, only an oil change, on my '07 RS4. Called Highland Audi and told it would £319 for an oil change............ is that a normal charge?
I think it will be a trip to a good independent that I used in the past instead, quoted £120 for same service.
Wanted to keep service book with Audi only stamps, but at that price.......
I also have the emission light come on, perfect timing! I have tried Wynn's DIP3 and also audi's own petrol treatment, light still on, so it will be investigated when in for service, perfect timing!!!!
I just hope it is not serious, the car run's much better after the fuel treatment, with a good kick at 5000 rpm. Finger's crossed. :(

I'm not convinced of the value of an Audi only stamped service book tbh. Not now the cars are this old. As a buyer I'd be much more convinced by a bunch of invoices showing work/parts bought than just stamps in the book.

I just completed my first oil change, was dead easy - I've signed the service book myself and will keep invoices for what I bought and show them to any prospective buyers in future.

I bought 12 litres of Castrol Edge Professional (VW504 000) for £65.

Thanks Tony........ I suppose you are right in your thinking too. It is my intention to keep the car for a while yet and trying to justify the stealers prices is getting more difficult by the day.

Tony - that's a great price for the Oil - it normally costs £10 per litre odd - and the car needs 9.6 litres for anyone doing it themselves. That is a ridiculous price for an oil change - a 40k service from Audi (with oil change) costs £400 - that's using their oil which they charge at £15 per liter so, provide your own oil and you can save a little.

When I first called the stealer they told me I needed a pollen filter, air filter and fuel filter.......... they were changed already at the last service 12 months ago...... they reduced the cost of the service to £319 from £496 !!!! After I told them the filters had been changed at the same garage last year!

That should set alarm bells ringing, they don't even know a car they worked on. My local Audi garage know everything about my car - even told me I needed the coil pack recall (which i knew i did so it was a kinda test.) Tell them how poor they are, that you'll tell everyone you can how poor they are then go somewhere else.

Don't know how they could hav said the fuel filter needs changing when its not even on the schedule cos its a lifetime item!!
Ask them again and say u just want an oil service and u will supply ur own oil. Price should come to about £120 for labour charge plus oil filter plus plug.
