RS4 Trip to Germany and Back

Post by parahandy » Sun Apr 01, 2012 11:40 am

Just got back on Friday from a trip to the Nurburgring. The mileage was about 1000 miles each way (about 14 hours driving each way) and another 400 -500 brisk miles when we got there and was our first trip there with the RS4.

The car ran faultlessly and used about half a litre of oil which I'm happy enough with. Plenty of fuel stops which was good for stretching my long legs.
The Pirelli P zero tyres on the car aren't so good when you push the car on. They'll be replaced by something different when the time comes.

Unfortunately the Nordschliefe was closed on the Friday and Saturday due to DTV testing at the Grand Prix circuit. Went along on Sunday morning hoping to get a lap or two in but it was very busy with long queues at the ticket office, so I didn't bother going round. We relaxed in the sun and burnt off the excesses of the night before.

All in all it was a great trip in a fantastic car :redrs4: and in comparing it with my urquattro in which I've done the same trip, it's a better car in every way except seat comfort and the urq has slightly better fuel consumption and a bigger fuel tank = less fuel stops.

Cheers

Calum

The drive there is half the fun, esp if the weather is nice.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Sonny -the drive there was great fun. Unfortunately we came back a different way to Calais and there was a few road works which held us up a wee bit.

Tim - no run ins with the police. We didn't see that many during the whole trip.

On the foolwing website you will find all torist lap opportunities!

http://www.nuerburgring.de/angebote/fah ... leife.html

I am living only 60 miles away from the ring. Perhaps we can organize a meeting with UK and German RS4 (RS2, RS3, RS6, R8)-Driver.
Best regards Bernd

I have had a look on http://www.wetter.com

http://www.wetter.com/wetter_aktuell/we ... =DE0007130

Easter-Monday we will have in Nürburg 0°- 6°C and the SNOW/Rain-Risk is at 60%. It seems that it is not the right time to make this trip from UK.

I will kepp you informed when the weather forecast will change.
Best regards Bernd
