My Sprint Blue B7 RS4 thread

Collected my RS last week from a fellow forum member and spent the whole day yesterday in the glorious sunshine getting stuck into the initiation clean! I'm funny like that, I don't feel I have truly bonded with a car until I have given it a thorough clean inside and out! I’ve got to say the body work on this car is amazing for a 6 year old car, not a single scratch/dent anywhere to be seen and only minor stone chips to the front bumper & bonnet so have ordered a sprint blue touch-up pot from Autopaint to fill in any chips where possible.

I’ve also cleaned & conditioned all the door seals with Einszett Gummi Pflege as I have noticed a small amount of wind noise from the driver’s door, if this doesn't work then I'll either try adjusting the door to close tighter or get a new door seal. Anyone else experience this?

Just need to give the leather a thorough clean and condition as it all looks a little dry and will probably get the driver’s seat repaired to get rid of the usual bolster wear and stretched leather on the seat base.

All wheels have been refurbished at Lepsons in Audi Chrome Silver so look superb, it's almost like owning a brand new RS it's in such good condition and I might soon run out of things to do on it...well after I have fitted the DTM carbon front splitter I have on order!!

So been off sick this week after having my tonsils out and thought I would get a couple of jobs done on the RS, managed to kill 3 birds with one stone on this one :boots:

I wanted to de-tango the headlamps, which means removing the front bumper so thought I would fit the DTM carbon splitter at the same time (much easier to get an accurate and professional fit whilst the bumper is off) and as there are large gaps where the bonnet meets the bumper I could adjust this as well.

Also took the opportunity to inspect the oil cooler pipes and anything else that was exposed and all seems fine! Phew

Used M5x25 st/st bolts & nuts to secure to bumper:

Decided it looked better without the oil cooler splitter as it lets you see more carbon and doesn’t look so ‘stacked’. Just need to fill the 2 exposed fixing holes, paint black and lacquer and you’ll never know they were there!

Job done :sleeping_2:

Really interesting, great pics, the white indicators really freshen up the front end. Keep up the good work!

Do you notice the omitting the oil cooler splitter affects the oil temps or have you not have enough time to give it a good test? I am hopefully doing my DTM splitter in a couple of weeks and just wondering whether to do the same.

Wondered who'd be the first to ask that P_G!

Not had enough time to test yet but had a good look at this before deciding on removing it. The OEM splitter doesn't actually direct air onto the rad it's just an opening to allow air in, so removing this extra layer has actually made the opening larger and will let more air in, so should, in theory improve cooling. I also smoothed the transition from the top of the DTM splitter to the inside of the bumper (now the OEM splitter isn't there) with extra wide insulation tape (I'll see how long this stays in place!)

No it's my first, but I think I know who you mean, when I had a Golf ED30 there was a guy on the VW forums that had various VWs and an RS4, he was called Teutonic Tamer...was a bit of a VAG guru but very blunt with people and there were lots of popcorn moments when he popped up on threads!

I've just saw your car at Bodyline. Who's fitting your DTM splitter, Revolution? Looks like you've got a little project going on there.

That's the plan. After 90+k mainly motorway miles the paintwork was looking tired to the point machine polishing wasn't disguising the problems and Audi lacquer isn't all its cracked up to be in places so its having a refresh, some bits added and maybe some taken off. Hope to get it back on the 21st.

I'm sure Bodyline will do a good job on your car. What are you getting done at Revolution?

If I knew you were going to re-trim your front seats, I would have let you swap with mine. I've only done 27,000 miles in them when I had them taken out, but unfortunately I've since swapped with another member.

Would love to fit a DTM splitter too ... Think it looks even better with the oil cooler plastic removed. Only thing is, it looks to me like it doesn't fit properly below the vents just infront of the wheel, like its a bit too short and a touch too narrow. Does it look right in the flesh ... as in ... Is that how it fits on a pukka DTM splitter?
