Hello and welcome to the forum.

There are a few on here that have swapped the wheel you have to the TT / R8 flatbottomed multifunction wheel but you cannot straight swap the one you have for the RS4 standard wheel. More or less desirable, that has been much debated on here including buckets vs. Recaro comfort seat but if the car has the right spec otherwise and you can live with the different wheel then it shouldn't stop you buying the car. But if you are asking about swapping it out then maybe that answers that question anyway.
As for costing more, can't say for sure but if it was it's not by much, i.e. hundreds of pounds rather than thousands.

They fit that wheel as standard when Bluetooth option was selected with cradle in armrest (so you could control phone from SW)
I would not touch an RS4 without the desirable FBSW, get the garage to swap them over at their cost

Re: Need info asap before I leave deposit on rs4
I think adding the RS4 FBSW and making the buttons work would be very tricky, as the S button on "your" car is routed to the dash at the moment. The TTRS wheel will keep the functionality of the MFSW the car currently has + the S button on the dash + give you the RS look you want with simple fitment, so I think the salesman is 1/2 correct.
Re: Need info asap before I leave deposit on rs4
Two options.
Option 1 - fit original rs4 fbsw. Sport button on dash Wouk remain but not function. You woul need to update the cars configuration using Vag Com and you'd lose the additional controls provided by the mfsw (volume, radio etc)
Option 2 - fit tt-RS fbsw which replaces the mfsw controls like for like and I don't believe requires a software change. Sport button remains functional on the dash.
Buttons now days are driven burly software rather than physical wiring so although the button on the dash is currently sport it doesn't really matter.

This is not a big job, mine has had the FBSW retro fitted and all buttons work perfect, inc sport.
These wheels are fitted to loads of cars inc my last 2 a3's
Expect to pay about £550 for wheel inc airbag

Re: Need info asap before I leave deposit on rs4
Thank you all once again. So just to confirm the audi ttrs flat bottomed steering wheel or the r8 flat bottomed steering wheel will fit directly onto the rs4 I'm looking at without any problem and still offer the same multi functions and not require software updates etc??
Re: Need info asap before I leave deposit on rs4
Its pretty much plug and play, but i would defo wait and source the proper rs4 one as it has the brushed polished bottom section, butmoglie wrote:Thank you all once again. others will fit,ie tts,s3,etc,also if you go for the rs and want the sport button to work im sure that will need a feed from the
dash button.
Maybe you will need vagcam aswell to delete the airbag light once its been swapped,im sure someone close to you will have one
if you dont.
I even have friends running them in mk4s etc.
