Engine cleaned won't start

Hi my brother decided to wash the engine on my b7 rs4 with sme degreaser and a hose pipe car strarted misfiring and cleared after a minute or so , I came back to it after an hour to go out the car started and misfiring again so parked it up went back to it in the morning and it won't start at all just turns over put new plugs and coilpacks still nothing there fuel but no spark , there no electric current going to the coilpacks . Any ideas what it could be anyone has had this problem after washing the engine .

use the hosepipe to strangle ur bro, hopefully it will evaporate if ur lucky

I'm reluctant to hose water on to the RS4, and without being negative, this is because it is not as water resistant as it could be
my e46 M3 was great, gasket cover on the coils, much better connectors, looms were enclosed, ECU better protected
from what I've seen BMW leads the class, almost mil-spec

Mine flagged an error with Knock Sensor 4 when I cleaned the engine, you need VCDS to check and clear.

Did you leave the engine running when you used the hosepipe?

Is there no power to any coil packs on either bank?
(of not then not an ecu fault)

I'm surprised with the Audi.
My 211 has its engine virtually completely exposed - it just has a mesh cover over the engine bay and the mesh probably extends over 90% of the engine (never mind the panel gaps you can get your hand into ) I don't obviously pressure wash it what it no roof and all but never had any starting issues and had a couple downpour incidents. Not fun and miserable as sin.

a simple example
coil packs

the Audi they are exposed and a simple plug in connector with a latch

the BMW they are covered under a gasketed plastic cover AND the connectors are cam lock type, fully sealed, and levered into place, way over-kill, but water tight

these are just my observations from working in the field and on cars for 30 years, your results may vary
