My Matt Black RS4 Saloon

Post by NaAW_x » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:43 pm

I have been meaning to update about my RS4 "Stars in their eyes" moment.

I purchased my RS4 Saloon in Sprint Blue on the 16th Ocotber 2011, it is in mint condition. I purchased from Audi direct as it was the best example i had seen in the 12months i had been looking for one.

Let me take you back to a week before this when i left the deposit. I came home that day and around the town i saw 2 RS4 Saloons in the Sprint Blue that i had just left deposit for. Wasnt too hapy about this. So in the time that it took Audi to prep my car and have it ready for me, personal registration etc, i convinced myself to get the car wrapped as soon as i picked it up. I went through so many colours, Papaya orange, white, estoril blue, etc and then i set my heart on Matt black. I know it has been done to death, but i really liked it on so many cars.

So i picked my car up and drove straight in to London. It had all been arranged and it would take 3 days. The menu: Matt Black vinyl wrap including door shuts, gloss black alloys, smoked rear lights, and black out the Audi rings front and back. I didnt take up the option of getting the windows tinted, i thought if i change my mind i can always get this done later.

I picked my car up 3 days later and i effin loved it.

The drive home made me feel like a celeb, so many looks and thumbs up from people you would never expect to appreciate it.

It is definately one of those marmite things, either you love it or you hate it. I was worried i would hate it but i love it. And tbh most people love it, a few people are not too fond of it, but hey s*it happens. :D

I have uploaded a few pics to show how i went from Sprint Blue to BATMOBILE.. lol :rocker:

Please excuse the fact that the car has not been washed in the matt black pictures, they are all i have at the moment, but i will clean it up and take better pics soon. Enjoy x

The thing with a wrap is that you cant get right in to the little gaps. Tbh you cant tell when your standing next to the car, its probably my fault for using such a high quality camera to take the pics. Again being sprint blue, it show more than it would say if it was black or grey underneath. But in all honesty most people have thought it was a paint job and not a wrap!!

The booking process wasnt long, i called on a monday to let him know i will be dropping the car off on Sunday and he told me to pick it up on the Wednesday. So it was pretty quick.

I quite like it, I would have done the mirrors also on it ;)

They the OEM lights and a film over them? I went for the aftermarket Dectane ones...

Not sure I like matt black on the saloon, seems the avant looks better in it...

My advice would be dont leave it on for too long... or prepare for an expensive bodyshop bill

Think the shiny wheels throw it off. Good effort though mate,
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I though the gloss wheels would go well with the gloss on the grill with the black optics. And then the rings in gloss black aswell. I tried to put my artistic hat on, and try to coordinate certain aspects of it. Silver mirrors with the silver rs badges and gloss wheels with gloss trim.

klauster, how long would you advise keeping it on, i was thinking 6 months and then back to sprint blue.

Hi NaAW_x,

I think that looks well slick….. That’s a mad process ‘wrapping’, if you don’t mind me asking how much does something like this cost ‘ball park figure’? And can they do any colour? And finally does this have insurance implications? i.e extra cost and I suppose you have to change your V5 doc???

Cheers,
Lig.
