[apologies, posted this in electricals but that place is v quiet]

I've been using the 3GS adapter for a year now without any problems. It clicked onto the base plate of the vertical mount after a bit of fiddling and has been solid as a rock ever since. I just got a shiny new 4S and am now having fights with the new cradle. I'll try and describe it below - hopefully if you have one you'll know from my attempt what I mean!

The iPhone 4 cradle adapter just doesn't seem to fit the base right. Here's me wondering if I was coming down with a bad case of the dyspraxia when I noticed something which I think is a design flaw: the top two spring loaded catches on the base have nothing to clip onto! They just sit empty square holes in the back of the adapter. Yes, the springs exert some pressure on the sides of the holes, but the sides of the holes are flush, with no indents for the catches to click/clip into so there isn't anything other than a bit of friction holding them. The bottom catches have a hole+indent to clip into as on the 3GS adapter. The net result is a cradle which can come away from the base with the lightest of tugs.

Have I got a dud or are they all made this way? I'm tempted to return it as 'not fit for purpose'.

Part number 8T0.051.435.F - it's the offical one, and supposedly correct for my chasis number.

Hi, i bought the same cradle for my iPhone 4 from audi. Mine is the same, the top two clips have nothing to clip onto. I have not a cradle for this car before so i assumed it was normal.
