It may help the tumble effect but I haven't noticed anything bad. I just see it as something in the way of the air flow I've had a 30 bhp increase from my exhaust and Inlet changes with the revolution filter. L9oked forward to mapping it

I've logged 191.19g/s in 2nd gear and 186.92g/s in 3rd

Time----------Engine----------Mass Air----------Throttle----------Ignition
Stamp--------Speed/min-----Flow g/s---------Valve Angle %----°BTDC

2nd Gear Run
380.44---------8000------------191.19--------------99.6--------------29.3

3rd Gear Run
473.77---------8080------------186.92--------------99.6--------------25.5

That’s approximately 478 hp and 467 hp. That can't be right can it?

154 is average for carbon'd car - 165-175 is normal for cc, and ported - with high flow filter and cold air feed getting towards the higher end - I bet your car was retarding timing before and now doesn't <beep> anything - so the extra airflow and extra timing making it loads better.

Cheers for that doug, yes it feels loads better since doing it all pulls alot stronger.Ill be booking it in with you hopfully soon for a stage 2 map an to see what you think on how its running.

How do you log this info? Do you have to have a PC with VCDS plugged in and running while you do the runs or does it record this info all the time?

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd dig it up again.

So, I've been watching my airflow readings on a tablet running Torque OBD app in the car.
From memory I've been seeing peaks of about 348 g/s but that is not red lining it; changing at or before 7000 rpm.
Looking at the other readings here I assume that must be both banks and would put the power at about 435bhp which is what I'd expect with my mods if it had been carbon cleaned (which it hasn't). I've had my car dyno'd twice, once at MRC and a year later at amd and they both came in within 1 or 2 bhp of each other other at around the 400bhp mark so assume that to be abot as accurate as can be from a dyno.
Now I know what all these numbers mean I'll take a proper reading next time I'm driving.

I assume that my app is jut being fed the exact same numbers as VCDS would be reading? When I get the inclination one day I will do some runs and log them with the app, then do a few more with the laptop and VCDS and see if they agree with each other.

No it's definitely in the three hundreds. Went out earlier and didn't quite get to the 348, but definitely hit 320 which makes it an estimated 400bhp, exactly what the dynos read.

You can get the total airflow (both banks combined) when you use a regular OBD tool rather than VCDS. So 300+ would be correct.
