I need a new windscreen with rain and light sensor fitted, Maidstone Audi quoted £693.00 fitted, Bexley Audi £300 and Autoglass quoted £600.00 ?????????

DO NOT USE AUTOGLASS, they do not use Saint Gobain windscreens, just their cheap subsidiary Solaglass and the quality is nowhere near as good and susceptible to stone chips and cracking.
Yes with a £75.00 excess, but they recommend Autoglass although I can take it where I want and be reimbursed the Autoglass route is the least hassle and they will fitted a genuine Audi windscreen, Bexley don't seem to have the best reputation on here although Sonny had his windscreen replaced by them. Best if I take it to Bexley then.spikeyboy101 wrote:Cant you claim on your insurance ?

You can but dependent on which insurance company you are with it will go down and a claim against your policy and on your claims history Don't tell you that on your Autoglass adverts eh? Hence why I have four claims on my claims history and am now a 'high risk' driver albeit two were non fault fully recovered and the other two were windscreen claims. I did the second windscreen when Autoglass said it was £600 to fit at my own cost by them to replace their first sub-standard one which lasted 7 weeks until it cracked and Audi supposedly charged more; you can imagine how fecked off with them I was when I found out I could get it done for £250 from Audi albeit they also initially suggested £300+ until I put a call into TPS and then promptly dropped the price.spikeyboy101 wrote:Cant you claim on your insurance ?
It's not a genuine Audi windscreen. Audi windscreens are made by Saint Gobain, Autoglass 'OEM' windscreens are made by Saint Gobain's subsidiary co., Solaglass. Kind of like asking / paying for a Lamborghini and getting a Skoda except it isn't even Skosda quality.PaulRS4 wrote:Yes with a £75.00 excess, but they recommend Autoglass although I can take it where I want and be reimbursed the Autoglass route is the least hassle and they will fitted a genuine Audi windscreen, Bexley don't seem to have the best reputation on here although Sonny had his windscreen replaced by them. They said they can supply one if I insisted on it.P_G wrote:It's not a genuyine Audi windscreen. Maidstone used to sub contract the job out but now do the fitting of windscreens in house, the service guy who has always been extremely helpful said they had no problems with the job being contracted out so why make yourself so uncompetitive?adsgreen wrote:not surpised at audi though - it's pretty specialist and given the training required versus the frequency of work they'd get it's not worth the hassle when autoglass do it so much cheaper.
I would still say it would be a Solaglass one. I asked the same and was told it was OEM when clearly after a bit of research it isn't. Can't believe Maidstone want three hours labour though...PaulRS4 wrote:They said they can supply one if I insisted on it.P_G wrote:It's not a genuyine Audi windscreen.
