You can get a new windscreen from TPS for £190 and they will subbie a screen fitter in for anywhere between £45 and £80 to do it so you shouldn't be paying anymore than £300 to do it; I paid £250 in total.

DO NOT USE AUTOGLASS, they do not use Saint Gobain windscreens, just their cheap subsidiary Solaglass and the quality is nowhere near as good and susceptible to stone chips and cracking.

Exactly what i was going to say as i have also priced these up from tps at £190

I someone with the auto dip mirror fitted wouldnt mind me pm'ing me there reg just so i can make sure i get the correct
screen for when i fit my new mirror.
My friend works there and i will only let him have the reg to check part numbers.Apparently there are 6 different screens for the B7 RS4

Thanks

Yes with a £75.00 excess, but they recommend Autoglass although I can take it where I want and be reimbursed the Autoglass route is the least hassle and they will fitted a genuine Audi windscreen, Bexley don't seem to have the best reputation on here although Sonny had his windscreen replaced by them. Best if I take it to Bexley then.

You can but dependent on which insurance company you are with it will go down and a claim against your policy and on your claims history Don't tell you that on your Autoglass adverts eh? Hence why I have four claims on my claims history and am now a 'high risk' driver albeit two were non fault fully recovered and the other two were windscreen claims. I did the second windscreen when Autoglass said it was £600 to fit at my own cost by them to replace their first sub-standard one which lasted 7 weeks until it cracked and Audi supposedly charged more; you can imagine how fecked off with them I was when I found out I could get it done for £250 from Audi albeit they also initially suggested £300+ until I put a call into TPS and then promptly dropped the price.

PaulRS4, give TPS your VIN number or reg and they will source the correct part for your car.

It's not a genuine Audi windscreen. Audi windscreens are made by Saint Gobain, Autoglass 'OEM' windscreens are made by Saint Gobain's subsidiary co., Solaglass. Kind of like asking / paying for a Lamborghini and getting a Skoda except it isn't even Skosda quality.

They said they can supply one if I insisted on it.

TPS were the same price as the four Audi garages I called £182 plus VAT, the difference is the fitting, Maidstone do it in house for £345 plus vat and charges for three hours labour.

Bexley £65 plus vat subcontracted out
Beckenham £110 plus vat subcontracted out
Beckenham and Bexley are part of the same group though.

Coulsdon Audi said no Audi garage gets involved in replacing windscreens and suggested I phoned Autoglass.

not surpised at audi though - it's pretty specialist and given the training required versus the frequency of work they'd get it's not worth the hassle when autoglass do it so much cheaper.

Maidstone used to sub contract the job out but now do the fitting of windscreens in house, the service guy who has always been extremely helpful said they had no problems with the job being contracted out so why make yourself so uncompetitive?

I would still say it would be a Solaglass one. I asked the same and was told it was OEM when clearly after a bit of research it isn't. Can't believe Maidstone want three hours labour though... :audibash:
