Need some help the black triangle part of the o/s door mirror needs replaced as a little corner has some corrison on it
it's the part that attaches to the outside of the door the new part comes with the wiring harness for the heating/movement. Do i need to take off the inner door panel ? if so is this a difficult job ?. This is on a b7 rs4.
Looking forward to your replies,
Gordon.

Which side is your corrosion? My audi dealer says he sees a few of these and all corrode on the driver's side?

interesting I have exactly the same - corrosion/bubbling on the drivers side
i'm getting audi camberley to check it with some other stuff in July but other comments suggest no chance of getting it done under paint warranty as its a fitting or something....
bit wierd a decent number of people all have the same issue
v interested how much replacement parts/labour cost to change too....

The part is 48 quid inc vat thats from trade parts who do vw/skoda/seat and audi. Not sure if it would be the same price
direct from audi. Also not sure about the labour cost.

I was quoted £750 approx for 2 mirror fixing brackets and having the bottom door trim reolaced and sprayed from audi.

Interesting, as mine has some very light bubbling, also on the drivers side... It hasn't broken through yet but if the part is 48 but the quote 750 I think this will become a DIY job for me if Audi don't cover it under the paint/body warranty.

I have the same problem, corrosion on the driver's side, its really obvious and makes the car look tatty. (56 avant, 30K)
When I asked about the corrosion warranty at Aberdeen Audi, they said not even the doors were covered, as they were not part of "the body". Maybe it's because I didn't buy the car from them?
Gordon, have trade part got a local distributer/website?

Update on my situation.....Audi UK have initially refused the warranty work, but my dealer is still trying with them. The dealer has said they are confident that I won't have to pay for the repair (one way or another). Will post here when I hear more but it might be a week or two by the sounds of it.

Some problem here too on the driver's side. Car is in for a service in 6 weeks, so I will ask them then. I will be expecting a big NO.
