Insurance renewal - joke!!

Had my renewal through today and with another years no claims, no offences and a year wiser, they have increased the premium by 50%
That's 75% more than my first premium when I bought the car 2 years ago.
I have as a result switched to Admiral and been given a price (using multi-car discount) of roughly what it was when I originally bought it.

There was a piece on the news today about an expectant hike in insurance premiums.
The rise they suggested could be as great as 30% over the coming mnths.

I think it's accepted that loyalty is not rewarded anymore. As with any type of insurance due for renewel, you have to
Shop around for the best deal.
Insurance companies also work on the principle that many people are too lazy to change!

+1, always worth shopping around as it only takes 5 mins on the web.

I had to renew mine yesterday as I haven't sold it yet and got a very good deal with Adrian Flux.
Best quote I had received was over £1100 with a £1100 excess. This was £200 less than my renewal.
Adrian Flux have managed to get it for £910 with £500 excess. I would have increased the excess to bring the premium down further but that was the max they would do.

For the last three years I simply use the comparison sites and go with the cheapest. The renewals have become a joke!

lets hope you never have to claim with Adrian Flux
then you will be wishing you paid the extra £200 for someone else

^^ totally agree with this!
Although for me they caused me 2 years of grief and I didn't even make a claim! back around 2003, I used them again in 2009 and ended up having to threaten them with court action till they paid off for there mistakes.
If Ady Flux were the only insurance company around I think I'd hand over my keys and start biking or walking everywhere and never own a car rather than use them again.
