Insurance

Not sure if you guys tend to share insurance info but it's often nice to see who's being competitive, so I thought I'd share:

MoreThan
Garaged
33yrs old
Clean licence, 1 fault claim
RS4 Avant standard, no tracker
10+ no claims
£800

Pretty happy with that considering the value of the car.

Talking of insurance those with a two or more cars of whom I believe there are now a few do you have a multicar policy or insure each vehicle seperately? If the former who do you use? I got my commuting juice of satin guzzler yesterday and struggled to get a competitive price with zero no claims and can't wait for my MoreThan policy on the RS to expire because they are such a bunch of poorly trained and qualified cowboys who have wrecked my policy history. A multicar policy would be the ideal.

P_G, can you not cancel the policy early? Tell them you've sold the car or something?

I could do but this is MoreThan and I would have to lose more money to them in cancellation fees and I have lost enough money through being insured by them already to give them the satisfaction of doing this.

I would seriously not recommend MoreThan RSA to anyone looking for insurance and am prepared to pay more than their quotes to have decent insurance. I am in the process of formal complaint procedure with them to the FSA.

I found morethan to be useless too, now with swiftcover, who were the best I could find at the time of renewal. I will look at multicar next year though...

Admiral multicar is good. Good price for my RS4 on its own but additional discounts the more cars you insure with them.

Admiral Multicar - RS4 and Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland V8 - £1100 for both......
Before switching to Admiral my existing Insurance company wanted £2740 for the RS4......

I suspect I won't get insured with Admiral; just gonme through confused.com and with my now knackered claim history they won't quote me on the site.

Why not say you have added 500 shot of NOS or something then they will refuse to insure you & issue a pro-rate refund can always decide the NOS doesn't work out for you later...

MoreThan would still charge for that; I've already thought of it.

Well despite the disastrous start to this thread, it seems to have been of some use. Following a mis-quotation from my existing insurer, I did a quick online comparison and MoreThan came out cheapest by some margin, but you really do get what you pay for?!

I've had two cars for quite some time now, a run-about, and a 'proper' car. Until recently however, the 'proper' car has always had to have been insured with a specialist, so multicar had never been an option.

Next down from MoreThan is Admiral, at just over £1000. The company I'm with at the moment wanted £1100 after all the faffing, so maybe I'll just stick with them.

Both my wife and I are with MoreThan and not had any issues, and my daily car is with Admiral.

Swiftcover insisted I had a Tracker fitted. Something to think about

Insurance companies are all brilliant until you have to claim or deal with any admin some how, and that's when the customer service quality comes to light. Have you had any other dealings with them PetrolDave, other than quotes and renewals? It would be good to hear a positive account from dealings with them, if such a thing exists!
