Is it my driving?

Post by wrekka » Wed Apr 06, 2011 9:42 pm

Now and again when giving the car some rice,I have noticed hesitant spots. It mainly seem to happen in the lower gears, especially from 2nd to 3rd. When changing from 2nd to 3rd at high revs when 3rd gear engages the engine seems to slightly hesitate or slightly bog down, then goes again.

I originally thought it was something to do with the coil packs, but I have now had all new coils in thanks to the recall, but car still does it now and again

Any ideas?

Do you remember to turn off traction control? If not, that will make the car bog down when shifting fast.

I never actually turn traction control off as I think it might be quite dangerous....

do you guys do it on a regular basis? or maybe only on dry weather? :blackrs4:

I did read somewhere that is beneficial for the car to actually drive it with T/C turned fully off for at least a few miles a month.

I turn TC off every now and again and esp on the track.

Dangerous?
I've had a 330bhp car RWD car, 700 kgs without even assisted brakes let alone TC/ESP/SC etc.
The best safety device is the nut behind the wheel :)

If you're tripping the esp during cornering on the roads then you've got other things to worry about.

Not sure what turning off the esp etc would do to help the car though.

Feel stupid now! You know what I never even thought of that! It's been bone dry when it has happened, so traction control never entered my head! I'll give it a go with it off tonight!

Just had a quick blast after the gym tonight with tc off. Only did a couple of runs through 1st and 2nd and didn't do it, so must have been that! Didn't realize the tc would come on when completely dry!
anyway cheers everyone

I find it odd that the ESP light flashes when only part disabled but is solid when fully off. You'd think the more "dangeous" option would flash...

I think I can see the logic, when the light is flashing the system is "ON" a bit and "OFF" a bit, kinda like the light it self :drink: maybe im just a little crazy.

I defo think that audi have got it right with the light only coming on when the system is off, it means that under normal circumstances there are no lights on the dash and nothing to worry about !

Besides what do you do when the system is activated during vigorous driving, turn the lamp off ?
