Bonnet position

Hi all
I've recently noticed that my bonnet doesn't seem to be sitting quite right when shut. The side edges align perfectly with the edges of the wings, but the front edge seems to be sitting too high, and there is quiet a gap between the edge of the bonnet and the tops of the headlights and grill etc. It's a gap big enough to almost get a finger into, probably half an inch or so where the bonnet meets the front bodywork between the headlights and the grill. At the same time though, it's very securely shut and not at all loose. I'm assuming this probably isn't right? If so, what can be done?

From my experience its quite common with cars we get in

Its the bumper thats sitting too low, you will need to loosen it and lift it up a touch.

Bt of a faff but we did it on mine and made a noticeable difference.

Yes, its the bumper out of position rather than the bonnet. This was discussed on here (with photos) around Nov/Dec time IIRC.

Cheers guys, but won't doing that put it out of alignment with the wings? Or am I being thick?

Sometimes the bumper gets put back on incorrectly and just missing the bracket, it has been known for the bracket to break due heavy handed mechanics

As said it just adjusts using a long torx driver in the top of the bumper. You may have to re-align headlight.

The torx undoes the locking bolt holding the adjuster tight, you then need to wind the actual black mount to the desired position and lock it off with the torx bolt again.

I did mine as soon as I bought it. The bumper was sitting low and the bonnet adjusters needed a few turns. It now sits perfectly.

the slam panel/rad support panel/lock carrier can also be on incorrectly and this will cause the lamps to sit low as they are fixed to it.

This really gets on my t*ts,mine looks like yours did on the top photo.Looks way better after the adjustment,is it difficult to do?

It's a bit of a pain TBH, accessing all the bolts that hold the bumper on. You don't need to completely remove it, but it's not far off to get to the winders, make the adjustment and get a snug fit.

according to elsawin the correct gapping is 3.5mm on the sides and 5mm along the top (grille to bonnet)

Thanks, will get the tape measure out on mine as I think it might be more than that.

Mines WAY more than that.

I've got the tools sorted and located the adjusters, is it just a case of winding them up until the bumpers in the correct position?
