In a previous post 'Annoying stuff on our cars' I mentioned that the exhaust flaps opening and shuting at low speed gets on my t@ts and I wish it could be on or off. 'neckarlusm' (I've miss spelled that haven't I) mentioned that it would be good to have it mapped out. Does anyone know if this is possible cos I would luuuv that. Please don't all shout 'Milltec' non valved at me,,,,,,,I'm poor!

Good news is that a map can do what you like - bad news is that it would cost a fair bit!

If you want the flaps permanently open then there's a 5 min mod that does this, and gets you half way to a non-res Milly at zero cost

Let me know if you don't know about this and / or want the link - half the forum have done it in the past...

Many thanks for the reply.
Shows how much I know!
Ideally I would love the flaps mapped cos sometimes you just don't want to be heard.
Would very much like the info on the 5 min mod though!
Thanks again

The rear flaps have a pipe leadingto them. Simply remove the pipe and plug it but ensure its tight otherwise you'll get a vac leak (not good).
Would also cap the inlet to the valve actuator to stop crud getting in.

Your valves are now fully open all the time!

This is the thread that started it all (and is probably still the best)

Yes - great mod and thats the best thread - if you reconnect the tubes and close the valves you wont believe how quiet the car sounds in comparison.

FYI, I did this mod only recently - what I did was I pulled the black tubes of the valves (one was easy, one was hard to get off) - put in some wood screws into the black tube (you have to block those black tubes off to preserve vacumn) and hooked them up within the rear bumper and then put some tape around the exposed end of the valves

How many of you have got the flaps perm open?

I got mine closed when it was at the Audi garage a few weeks ago and sort of regret it....

Thanks again guys,
Had a look this morning and found that (for me) the easiest way to plug the hose is to disconnect the rubber from the hard green plastic pipe tucked in the rear bumper. It all pull's down to below the bumper making it easy to work on and comes off quite easily. An electrical socket screw is perfect in the plastic and a large dome head screw in the rubber to keep dirt out. Job done. I'll see what I think.
