I had a rear blowout earlier today and now that the car is home I am left contemplating what to do about replacing the failed tyre.

I currently have Pirelli P Zero Rossos all round with the following tread depths:-

FR 4mm
FL4mm
RR 5mm
RL in shreds

Now if money was no object I would replace them all but this time of year it is and I want to limit the cost without ruining the handling of the car.

Can I simply buy another P zero to replace the failed tyre or do I need to replace the other rear at the same time.

TBH I have not been massively impressed with the Pirellis as they seem to tramline a lot. If I do replace both rears can I use a different brand or do they need to be the same as the front?

In an ideal world I would replace them all with somthing other than Pirelli but I am been to avoid a £900 tyre bill right now.

I dislike the P Zeros too....

You could consider a part worn if you shop around carefully. There are companies that get part worns from the likes of Audi when a customer requests 4 new tyres as part of the purchase deal on a used car.

Then you can get the make and tread depth you need.

Shop carefully and ask if there have been any repairs etc, no reason why you can't get a good tyre to see you through until you need to replace all 4.

Thanks for that, looks like great idea. This would allow me to wear the Pirellis down over the next few months and change all four together in the New Year for something else.
