Audi assistance are coming to collect me and will drop me off somewhere.

Question is where can I get a new tyre on a Sunday from. Do I have to replace them as a rear pair.

Any ideas, suggestions welcome

You don't HAVE to, but it's wise if the tyre staying on has worn down significantly.

I am getting recovered to a local Audi dealer. Which is best, Aston Green or Amersham Audi.
Anyone had any experience?

Audi have told BBOY that he can only get recovered to an Audi dealership locally.
Does anyone know if this is true or can he get recovered to a single destination anywhere in the UK as per this document?

Amersham is where my car goes, head tech is a good lad.

Thanks for the input guys and a special thanks to Neckarsulm who pointed out that I was entitled to recovery to a destination of my choice anywhere in the UK.

Audi recovery actually suggested recovery to a local tyre repair centre but given the fact that the local Kwit fit would not stock the appropriate tyres I thought the best option was to leave the car at the local Audi centre. Thanks to the advice from Nekarsulm I am now home 70 miles from where I came to grief and have the rest of the week to sort out a new tyre.

The recovery guy said I had been lucky. He had just returned from another job collecting an A3 that also had a rear blow out. Unfortunately for him he lost control and bounced off the central reservation damaging the car significantly in the process.

My experience was very different. I was travelling at motorway speed and heard a thud from the rear so just coasted to the hard shoulder. The car felt settled with no hint of losing control. I guess that is testament to the balance and handling characteristics of the car.

My next headache is what to do about replacing the trye or even tyres. Think I will save that for another post.

Yes. I had my other half and old folks in the car plus a bit of gear in the boot so it was fairly well laden. It could have been a lot worse.

The incident has hit home how useless the TMS arrangement is. I would much rather have a space saver spare and the ability to change and drive off albeit at a slower pace. If I had not had decent road side assistance I would have been buggered.

glad you are okay, did the rim manage to survive getting damaged?

This is why I carry an emergency only wheel in the boot of my Avant. It might only be good for 50mph, but it will allow me to choose where I go to.

I think the rim is ok but will confirm tomorrow when my trolley jack is returned and I getit off the car.

jack do you use?

Would have thought a scissor jack would suffice for emergencies.

It's an 18" space saver that I bought from my local Audi dealer, fitted with a Continental space saver tyre. Remember the RS4 could be ordered with 18" wheels so it fits OK over the front calipers, and it has a rolling radius within a few mm of the OE tyres.

I use the genuine Audi jack, also bought from my local Audi dealer, which fits in the "wheel well" to the right rear of the battery. I modified the plastic with the aid of a Stanley knife so it fits neatly in there.

Out of curiosity has anybody looked at runflats before?
