Winter Wheels - Pictures / Suggestions

Post by Iain_S4 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:42 pm

Anybody got any pictures of the RS4 with the 5-spoke optional or winter wheels on? A google image search has failed to find any. I'm considering a set of winter wheels and tyres but not sure I can live with the compromised looks.

Alternatively has anone got any suggestions for an alternative? I like the following but nobody imports them into the UK.

Second hand set of OEMs?
You don't have to go down to 18"s and narrower tyres. I used 19" Vreds Wintrac 275/30 last year (and for next few years hopefully!) Performance in snow/cold wet conditions still hugely better than "summer" tyres and doesn't change the look of the car.

There isn't actually much available aftermarket that will fit without spacers etc.

I'm considering just swopping tyres and putting winter tyres on the standard 19" rims as well but like the idea of having a seperate set of wheels. I reckon I can get the winter wheels with slightly worn winter tyres for the about the same as 4 new 19" winter tyres. Also it lets me get the 19" wheels sent away for a proper refurb at Pristine or Lepsons.

Thank you for the picture.

2 sets of wheels definitely easier if you've the storage space. I picked up a second hand set with decent summer tyres on, sold the tyres on as I didn't want them. Net cost for 4 OEM wheels ended up at around £400, which wasn't bad...

Also had the original wheels refurbed while they were off, you can often get a good deal if you're in no rush and not stuck with your car off the ground!

I spoke to Audi about winter wheel/tyres for a B7 S4, the stealer wanted £1620 for a set of 4. The wheels are alloys 7.5J x 18 with Conti Winter tyres with a 5 parallel spoke wheel design, haven't got a picture though.

I have a set of S8 Mk1 (18") wheels, wondering if they'd fit straight on? Nearly time for me to change tyres anyway so might put winters on these if they'll fit!

Just protect them properly, 2 costs of chemical guys wheel guard and collonite 476s wax and they're bomb proof

I rang Audi today about the OEM RS4 18's, they want £554 + VAT per wheel.
Above my budget, so maybe not!

However, if my research is correct, these wheels:

are ET33, though the centre bore is bigger. Could be corrected by hub rings....
Still pretty pricey, but not as mental as the RS4 set.
