Does It Need To Be Garaged?

Hi,
I've been reading this forum for a while and I'm currently searching for the right RS4 at the moment (more searching required) so hello to everyone but my question is this...
Is your RS4 garaged or is it parked on your drive or on the street?
Reason for the question is a few posts I read on here about recent thefts and more disturbingly house robbery to get the keys.
I live just off J29 on the M1

I think you gave the answer in your post.
Common sense approach, "out of site out of mind" however most may not have a garage or drive.
I garage my car.
Welcome to RS246

Welcome, I garage too
A garage is good but if you are on a quiet cul-de-sac away from 'eyes' then that's good too, if you are on a main road, all it takes is one person to spot it and the word will get around.
Having said that, I do know of a very noticable Sprint Blue saloon in Birmingham on a main road, not that visible but you can see it from the road, not a bad area but lots of passing traffic from the inner city outwards.
he's had it a year and no trouble so don't let a few incidents get taken out of perspective.

Despite the above, insurance companies, in my experience, seem to offer cheaper insurance for parking on the drive

My insurance company has me garaging the car between 10 pm and 6am! I live in the Scottish Highlands..... low risk area. Yet it is OK for me to park my car in a back street in a city overnight and it is insured......... very strange!

Mine is on the drive - I do have garages but my classic takes priority there

Yes, low risk post codes I think. I believe this is due to claims relating to driving in/out the garage being higher than thefts!

Agreed. I park on the street, with no problems at all (except for one minor badge pilfering). That's west London, so not a bad postcode but it ain't Mayfair...

I keep mines in a garage, not to do with the insurance just to cut down on the washing! Amazing the amount of rubbish that seems to be in rain water around me!!

Thanks guys, I don't have a garage but there are a number of nice 'prestige' cars on my street, range rovers etc so I don't think it's something to lose sleep over.
Thanks again

by bye bye
Street for me, I live on a raod colnnecting two thoroughfares so get minimal traffic.
Unless crooks are watching the car the opportunist thief wont know which house owns the car.
One neighbour came up to me and requested I never park outside his house though in case crooks thought it was his car....he should be so lucky!!!
I would not sleep at night if I had to park it on a drive......

I garage mine but if you dont have a garage and you do not have to use your car everyday why not invest in a car cover!

Interesting thought I can actually park on the other side of the street which would make it difficult to see which house the car belonged too.
That said would it make it more appealing to the yobs that like keying cars.

Depends where you are ... I am in Wimbledon ... and the street has quite a few high value cars parked on it and is plenty wide enough for traffic to pass back and forth so no-one seems to worry about it.

I KEEP MINE IN THE GARAGE BUT THE WAY I SEE IT IS THAT IF THEY WANT THE CAR ENOUGH THEN THEY WILL DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET IT
