Changing from long life to fixed servicing

I bought my car recentlty and it was on long life servicing due the previous owner clocking up 20k miles pa. I only do 5k miles pa so I want to switch to servicing every 12 months.

Do I have to wait until the car indicates the next service is due before changing (which won't be for another 7000 miles) or can I take it to Audi now as its now been 12 months since the last service?

Thanks.

When i bought my car, which is on long life the dealer tried to offer me to take at least 7,500 on finance as they had a deal giving two years free servicing with the finance option. I said well if the car is on long life, I might be lucky to just get one service. They said they would switch the car to fixed and could do it right away and perform (obviously) an oil change at the same time.

So I would say you don't have to wait.

You can change it at any time, to be fair depends on driving style, is it worth switching?

I switched from Long life to Service Regime.

When I bought mine it was on variable servicing and had its first service at 18k miles and the 2nd was due when I bought it at 29.5k miles / 3 years old. I didn't want to keep going 18k miles between services so had it switched to fixed interval at the 2nd service - which is 10k miles / 12 months. However I think it's backfired a bit as I used long life oil but the service indicator is saying it will need the next service done at 38.5k miles - so that's 9k miles (presume due to my driving style!) / 9.5 months. I'm going to get it switched back to variable at the next service, but then just book it in every 12 months even though the service indicator presumably will be saying one's not due.

the only difference is the oil ... So switch it at any point and then just change the oil every 10k at a Max, and follow the handbook for the other aspects, i.e. Plugs and filters etc

Thanks for the replies. As I do less than 10k miles pa I intend to service/oil change the car every 12 months.

I have recently asked my dealer about swapping to fixed - no problem but they said they use the same long life oil. Might as cost effective for me. What is everyone paying for the fixed service (not the inspection one)?
