Ghost Driver

The built-in sat-nav cheerfully told me to beware of a "ghost driver" last week. Never heard that before.

I didn't see any headless horseman or anything, but still fun.

I wonder what it means... driver asleep at wheel? how would it know?

I suspect that was a TMC message warning of e.g. a car driving the wrong way down a motorway or dual carriageway.

What road were you on? Anything on the local news or in the local papers?

I think I was in Belgium at the time, near Brussels and didn't see any other news... It was in the car's voice.

Doing a bit of digging it would seem to be a TMC safety event.

Apparently there's even a TMC event code for "gunfire on route." Glad I didn't encounter that one :-)

The event code is an 11-bit value defined in ISO14819-2.

I could have done with a TMC message today... Would have said 'caution BMW M3 driver with RS4 issues behaving like an idiot behind you'
